When someone leaves a group it is hard for the fans. In Avi's case, people were actually happy for him and us. He is so much better now doing his own music. All of his videos are filmed in such gorgeous locations and Avi's personality shines through them.

Yes, original. All the voices heard are his and any instruments played are him. Turn it up loud and listen for a very deep underlaying bass growl across the bottom throughout. That's him too, at his super-low best.

Saw PTX's Hallelujah, fell in love with Avi, and he led me to Home Free. He can do no wrong in my eyes or ears. If he and Tim would do a collab of singing the phone book, I would buy that and then probably melt into a puddle on the floor. Incredible song and artist.

In my opinion Avi has been creatingg a movie with his music . Qp4 and Summit and Aberdeen are talking about when he was falling into the darkness. Chains is the depths of dispair, It Knows Me is accepting his faults, I'll Get By is the beginning to come out of it. Change on the Rise is the determination to fight and get into the light, Otherside is the beginnings of peace after the battle. The First Place I Go is reminding himself to fight the deamon no matter what, Song for the Thankful is stepping into the light again and finally All is Well knowing he's going to be able to deal with whatever comes.

I agree. People are not replaceable directly. Matt was able to fill the shoes left behind but he’s not Avi and that’s not a bad thing. It just is. Matt is fabulous and the group has been able to go in a direction that suits them well now.. I don’t see the controversy. I still love Avi and miss him in PTX but I love Matt too and that’s ok. Different isn’t better or worse, it just is. Also, it seems that Avi needed some time and space to get all this amazing music off his chest. And we are all blessed because he made probably one of the most difficult decisions of his life. It takes tremendous courage and fortitude to do what he did. In the end, if he can’t take care of himself (physically and/or emotionally), he can’t give his all in PTX. As someone that has struggled with mental health (and I don’t know why he stepped away, I’m just using my own situation as an example), I have had to step away from different things and it was hard to do... I felt immense guilt, as if I were letting people down. But if I don’t take care of myself, I can’t help others around me or complete tasks with the precision/energy/detail/effort/etc necessary. I love that Avi is doing what he wants and/or needs to do. This might not be accurate but it really feels like he went through a depression or down time, and this song is his emergence from that and his .. war anthem ... him telling the depression to go f*** itself and that he’s in control. At least because I have that issue, I tend to put the song in that context!

He has 3 covers that I know of. House Of The Rising Sun, Lean On Me, and Hey Ya. But most of his music is his originals that he wrote or co-wrote and it covers a wide range of genres, but mostly has a folk flavor. Next I would suggest Chains (audio only), Get Down (audio only) and The Summit (audio only). Then try I'll Get By, Aberdeen, and Field And Pier, all with videos

One of the sweetest moments of Avi's time with PTX was when Scott wrote Light in the Hallway for his (then) baby nephew and declared the only voice for performing it was Avi. It's a go-to lullaby for all ages and stages. Then with Avi's originals Full Moon, Aberdeen II, and Quarter Past Four, you're guaranteed a quieter mind and tranquil thoughts. It's so generous of him to share his journey through his music - a beautiful human 😍

I'm not as huge a fan of Avi's music since he left PTX. I am, however, a massive fan of Avi himself. His music isn't something I personally would listen to on a regular basis. But, him, as a person, deserves all the support I can ever throw his way. He is such a genuine, down to Earth person that you can't help but love who he is. And, he's been that way since the first time I heard him express himself on one of the after shots of PTXs Sing Off journey. A lovely, lovely human being.

I wholly concur but... I think you're doing a disservice by seeing him as... well, whatever genre you'd personally identify him as. To me, those labels don't fit- His music is his own, he's created something entirely new in music. And he's quite the versatile artist. I don't know what you've heard (past Change on the Rise, anyway) but there's bound to be SOMETHING so far. And what of the future when his taste inevitably changes (I've learned that ALL musicians and bands change styles or sounds as they age), what of new material? See, I felt this way about PTX post-Avi and if I hadn't let go of bitterness (that didn't really have place to exist to begin with), I never would've found the awesome songs the group still makes with Matt. So I sincerely doubt there can't be at least one song that strikes your fancy. But I mean, it's not impossible that you just simply can't like any of his songs either... Anything is possible. But know this- I used to HATE Country music. Then Scotty McCreery entered the scene and BAM! All that random distaste just... vanished. Even though I am not into him or his music like I was, I still have his first album (and another random song) in my Spotify. Oh, there's also been a few others, as well. Some might even classify Avi as Country (for... some reason). Some people truly have their tastes but it's pretty incredible what an open mind will allow. All in all, you won't find peaceful like Avi's ANYWHERE else cuz he's got his own gorgeous voice.
@Tark-qs4mu

@@RosheenQuynh I like Avi's music. Some of it is a little artsy for my taste, but I still like Avi's voice IN those songs. His music just isn't something I find myself listening to more than once. Is it possible that could change? Absolutely. Does that keep me from listening to what Avi's put out lately? Not at all. Will that I don't listen to his music daily stop me from listening to what he puts out in the future? I somehow doubt it. So, I listen, I give each offering it's fair chance on it's own merits. And, I don't see myself changing that anytime soon, either. However, none of that has a thing to do with how I feel about Avi as a person. I think, though I don't know him personally, that he's a caring, intelligent, deeply humble, and very talented man who, sometimes, gives WAY too much of himself to other people. I don't think, for one second, that his personality has changed since his time with the group, which means he loves and appreciates his fans, and goes quite far out of his way to show them these things. For that he's always seemed relatable, likeable, and grounded.

This was Avi's battle song. After nearly two years of legal troubles where he was banned from even performing any songs from PTX (even the ones he wrote) and dealing with depression etc...He turned the corner with this song. Avi said all sounds are him except the clapping and he used an old organ in one part. Most of his songs after this were songs where he bared his soul. But they are also very cathartic for those who are suffering from depression. He always bring hope for us .... Now I see a little lift in his songs he seems much more at peace within himself. He has a huge tour of Europe coming up soon too.

As you might guess, this is a song that isn't easy to do live, but here's a video I shot at his July 12, 2019 show in San Francisco, just a very few months after releasing the song. His touring band at the time were amazing (3 of them being members of Nashville group Streetcorner Symphony, and the keyboard player, Daniel Ellsworth, is a great composer/performer, and plays the piano in Avi's new release "All Is Well", which you've already reacted to). Sorry for the not great sound quality, but I was stuck right at the stage, audience left. You'll hear our enthusiastic San Francisco crowd singing along with gusto, as happens at every show he does, no matter where in the world. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4fRi4uQjracm5Y

Avi did everything he could when he left to soften his leaving - see below interviews etc that may help some people who have never heard why if that is the problem. People always are unhappy when a band they love changes members or breaks up. It happened with the Beatles, it happened when Brian Keith left the Rolling Stones and then died. It happened with ABBA. People are going to feel grief for differing amounts of time. Saying those feelings are invalid and don't talk about it won't work it never does. Just ignore whatever is bothering you about other people taking longer to grieve. Another reactor decided to chastise people about this while supposedly reacting to Avi's new song. That was inappropriate and just made people angry at his bringing that up when they enthusiastically came for a reaction to Avi's song not to be lectured. I saw the “I wasn’t ready” face. I love this song so much. Avi is amazing. I don’t know where you live, but he’s going on tour starting toward the end of May. I’ve told my daughter I may have to fly down and stay with her and go to the last show in West Hollywood. 😬 Quarter Past Four is another one I play on repeat.

Hey Saucey, You really need to hear Avi in House of the Rising Sun. Not the ones in concert but the video of him in his bedroom on the guitar. So good.

Just the DRIVE and his under-toned bass thundering in, this is adrenaline candy to me!! This takes it down to the soul. When the lightning strikes and the people appear behind him...OH YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!

Avi is amazingin every way! I'm going to see him live for the first time next month and I cannot wait! So excited. This is my favorite Avi song, something so primal about it musically that really speaks to me and the lyrics really resonate with me. I call Avi's voice soul-soothing, bacause that's how I feel every time I hear him...

This song has been featured on a couple of television shows. So inspirational. What a talent and gift to the world Avi is. He is on tour in Europe very soon and will be touring in the states in the Spring. When he performs this one the crowd joins in and goes crazy. You should check out the cities he will be performing in and try to make it if you can. I have my tickets and can't wait! :)

Love your reactions ❤!! For me Avi is ONE OF A KIND !! His voice , music and personality stands head and shoulders above all other music and artist s (I'm probably haunted or obsessed😊🥰) There's not a day without his music , it's so versate , there's always a song for the mood your in and he's a master in changing his songs into a alternative version with a totally different vibe. A few of my favorites ( beautiful songs but not much reacted to) are Sage and Stone, Song for the Seeker ( both from his first album Avriel & the Sequoias) , Full Moon and Lean on me .

I can shake your hand because this is also my favorite kind of music. Especially when Avi sings with his unbelievably unique deep voice. No one can touch me as deeply as Avi in my heart and soul. . I also love his looks and video. That's why I'm disappointed that I can't go to his performance here in the Netherlands because I don't have transport.
