When you think Scott is trying not to laugh I think he's actually enjoying Mitch's voice; he's Mitch's #1 fan and you can see him fanboying on various PTX and SuperFruit videos. Superfruit have several pop medleys -- Beyonce (all the songs from her self-titled album), Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, etc (I'm sure the fans will tell you the others). And they also have their own original songs which they issued in a two-part album called Super Friends, and all the songs have videos. Guy.exe is the most popular but I like Hurry Up.

The group has been together for eleven years now, so of course their relationships and friendships have evolved. Kirstie has had her fair share of ups and downs as have the others. The way that they can come together and be so happy and generous with their desire to make us happy, tends to make us forget that they are normal people doing an extraordinary job. If you think about it, it's amazing that they have overcome all the odds, relationship-wise, business-wise, pandemic-wise, and just in the fact of maturing into adults, and still recognising their unique capabilities, and that their success comes from their unity, the sum of all their talents into one group. I'm so grateful they've become the adults they are now.

The Lion King lyric "Mitch got a body about a week ago...hum!". No one ever seems to catch that or comment on that when reacting. They have often joked about Mitch's dry spells with boyfriends (yes, he and Scott are proud gay men to those of you in denial), so this was a perfect comic nod.

There’s no hip hop PTX medley. 😏 But them doing these was brilliant. And we need a Broadway musical of it. As for Kirstin, I saw the same post on IG. I believe that she is referring to losing her grandfather and then a friend last year. Mitch has (separately) been very open about experiencing pretty severe social anxiety and depression at times. I appreciate them being so open - that’s how we change MH stigma.

Ha! Knew you had to do Part 2 right away. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Dude I do the same thing. Not being anything close to a musician, reactors like Elizabeth and Peter (both opera singers btw) have taught me so much! Not sure what Kirstie’s tweet referred to. They did get back in the studio to record Evergreen (a great behind the scenes video shows their recording process which is really interesting) and then back on tour this Christmas. They commented in interviews how much they missed getting back together after 2 years of no touring. They did create/record an entire EP from their homes, which many musicians did. All good tracks/videos. Sir, you have barely dipped your toes into a very deep well. PS: Audio sounds fine. 👍🏻

And only possible thing I can think of with Kirstin is that it’s been a year since her grandfather passed away. And a close friend passed away within this past year or so as well. But, she is a really strong cookie. Obviously, those are assumptions on my part. I know those 2 losses would throw me for a loop if I were in her shoes.

The sound was just fine for me. For Superfruit reactions from here, if you want something more comedy based I'd recommend either pop goes broadway or the frozen medley. For serious singing, Rise, Empire Medley or Evolution of Lady Gaga. And thats just to start. Enjoy the Superfruit rabbit hole!

One of Kirstie’s close family members passed away last year (I’m pretty sure it was last year at least) so I think that’s why she wasn’t really motivated to write music. I think it was her grandpa who passed so it was super hard for her to get through that

Superfruit has a bunch of medleys, and I'm sure these were supposed to be filmed as one takes as well, but they kept laughing so it wasn't an option. They also have an entire album of original music for you to check out (there are music videos for every song). It's called Future Friends and tells the story of their relationship through the years. Long story short: they went from childhood friends to boyfriends to estranged to friends/colleagues to close friends/room mates. These days they live by themselves (Scott lives with his boyfriend Mark). They're obviously still close, but since they stopped uploading on the SF channel they've become much more private and some fans falsely believe that they aren't friends anymore outside of their work with PTX. Anyway.. the dating stories within PTX are a little complicated tbh. The trio confirmed that they all dated each other at some point when they were younger: Mitch and Kirstin dated quite early on, Scott and Kirstin dated in highschool and so did Scott and Mitch.

You won't find these songs being covered by PTX, because they are sometimes more raunchy than PTX will cover. The clip that came on right at the end was Feeling Myself, which is also great. My favorite SF medley is Empire Medley. It seems to me that in Superfruit, Mitch really lets go and matches Scott note for note. Thanks for the fun reaction.

Yes, Mitch is pretty special. When most men want to sing as high as he does, they have to use their falsetto range, which is quite a breathy head voice - Mitch, as a countertenor, can hit those notes in mixed voice (which is where you channel the strength of your chest voice and push it into your head voice.) I also enjoy reactors with specialised knowledge; I can also recommend QofyReacts, Metal Guy Reacts and Xureck (the last guy is a professional beatboxer who does some great breakdowns of what people like Kevin from Pentatonix is doing.)

It is no secret that Scott is completely enamored with Mitch's voice. You can see in many videos that when Mitch sings, he glances over at him, or sometimes just closes his eyes and listens. I think in this, much of the time they don't dare look at each other or they will bust out laughing. If you watch the behind the scenes recording of the "Evergreen" album, the mutual admiration PTX has for each other just shines. I wish they would do more of these. Definitely check out the "Fozen Medley ".

I'm going to try and give a 'basic' example of chest voice and head voice, I am a singer (Classically trained) your normal speaking voice is generally your chest voice as it's where your voice sits naturally, your head voice is when you go into a higher pitch (e.g. 'they're just goofing around' 2nd time) it is generally a little thinner and lighter than your chest as you aren't able to give it as much support from your diaphragm (the muscle that sits under your lungs), a full chest voice is when you yell out to someone that is far away from you and you need them to hear you. With Mitch his natural voice is generally higher anyway so he is able to have a full sound and support in his higher register, he is then able to bring that fullness up into his head voice, like most things the more you exercise your voice the larger the capacity you get with it, I have noticed that all of PTX have improved and lengthened their ranges over the years as they are using them so regularly. I hope that has helped I do really enjoy your reactions and believe me even I, as a Tenor myself, am gobsmacked by Mitch's range and Avi's for that matter, all the best and have a great day.

Peter Barber? He's a great bass singer. I'm subbed to him, too. He loves Avi, and is a huge Tim and Geoff fan. I enjoy Elizabeth from the Charismatic Voice too! Her facial expressions are adorable and I've learned so much from them. Another great one to watch is Jacob Restituto, he gets into some of the technical side of his reactions. He's also done interviews with quite a few people like some of the guys from Home Free, Ben Bram from PTX, Ed Boyer who mixes for PTX, and more. Your audio on the videos does sound a lot better. I am by no means a vocal expert, but I've watched a lot of reactions by people who are and I did a lot of reading after I discovered PTX almost two years ago. This is what I understand from everything I've read and heard. Mitch is a countertenor. He's basically the highest possible male voice. A lot of that is genetics - countertenors are born with unusually short vocal chords for males. I think I read somewhere that he has an uncle with a high tenor voice as well. There's a couple different types of voices - head, chest, and mixed are the three the reactors talk about the most. Head voice is like a falsetto, or maybe is a falsetto? It's pulled way up and resonates more through the sinuses than the chest. Chest voice is just what it sounds like - using the chest cavity for resonance. And mixed is where it's kind of a chest voice, but pulled up and using a little of the upper resonance too. You'll hear a lot of reactors (Tara Simon is another one that's GREAT for the technical stuff) who know their business talking about how Mitch can sing in high chest or mixed where most men would be struggling even with their head voice. The belted high notes at the end of Aha! at the Star Vista were all mixed voice, according to Tara Simon. I'm a high alto or maybe a low soprano (no formal training, just comparing my voice to people whose range is established) and I can't hit a lot of his notes. He is a mixture of genetic anomaly and pure, unadulterated talent that can probably only happen once in a generation. If I got anything wrong or anybody wants to expand on the technicalities of what I've said, please feel free to correct me. As an aside, Mitch, Scott, and Kirstie grew up together doing musical theater, so when they get to show off their theater chops it's awesome. You should check out some of the other Superfruit videos, the ones where they're just talking or goofing around. It really gives you a sense of their personalities. Oh, and Scott & Mitch didn't just grow up together - they dated... twice, I think? They talk about it in their Superfruit book which I have been dying to get my hands on.

Quick question - how, exactly, have you not reacted to Superfruit's original music yet? Future Friends would make my top ten albums of all time. So, uh, you should consider that. "Guy.exe" (pronounced guy-dot-ee-ex-ee, because reactors always have trouble with that), "Heartthrob", "Bad 4 Us", and "Sexy Ladies" would be my top recommendations.

most people think that Scott is doing the sound from Lion King. Actually what he is saying is " Mitch got a new body bout a week ago" and then they hum I really appreciate what you said about Mental Health. I have bipolar depression which is even worse than depression. when I get depressed there is no force stronger in the universe than that between me and my pillow pillow. if it doesn't absolutely need to be done it does not get done. depression actually hurts physically. I have to force myself to take the next step followed by The Next Step. if we we're responsible for actually breathing in and out I would not because it takes too much energy. I lay on the couch watch the air go by and I'm totally overwhelmed. I did see on the video Kirstie talking about having depression. that was one of the reasons Avi left Pentatonix because they're poor schedule is fairly rigorous and that is a huge trigger for depression. his song change on the rise which if you haven't reacted to you must is about him coming out of a depression. also his newest first place I go for someone like me the first place I will go in straight into my depression

So, our man, excuse me, queen, Mitch is what we call a Counter Tenor. The is what we call a man who has come through puberty and has maintained the vocal range of a female Mezzo Soprano or Soprano without (wait for it) castration - thank goodness this is no longer a valid practice.
