Saucony Endorphin Shift Maximally Cushioned Trainer: 1st Run Review, Shoe Details, and Comparisons

I take the Endorphin Shift for a 4.2 mile first run in Park City, Utah at a decently fast (for me) 8:53 easier pace at altitude.
The Shift is the super cushioned stable neutral daily trainer in the Endorphin collection which includes the Endorphin Pro carbon plated racer and the Speed, similar to the Pro but a nylon plated uptempo trainer.
The Shift differs in having no plate, a PWRUN TPU/EVA blend midsole instead of PWRUN PB PeBa and as such is heavier at a still reasonable 10.4 oz / 295g for its more massive 38mm/34mm stack. It shares Saucony Speed Roll technology with the others in collection.

Well, version 2 of the Endorphin line is out but I'm a clearance shopper. The Speed is my favorite. The Pro is taking some getting used too. Decided to complete my set with the Shift which will come Tuesday. It sounds like a shoe that will work for me. It will be interesting to compare it too my lovable Mach 4.

In silhouette it almost looks a bit like the Glideride - or maybe even the Salming Greyhound. The Glideride is one of my favorite shoes. I just love the toe off, that the rocker of the Glideride provides. Looks like the Saucony Endorphin Shift could be worth considering.

Great toe off Shift yet better than Adi with a very well cushioned, and more inherently stable more responsive ride than Boost shoes if a bit denser and firmer. For Boost like ride in Saucony see new Triumph 18 vid on channel

So far it may be better for me as it is more consistent in under foot feel with a more effective rocker. It is less bouncy but I prefer the consistency so far

Just got this shoe and love it Now I haven’t tried the other 2 endorphines but I’m sure they gonna be fast shoes as this one is so fast in my size 7 it’s fairly light and responsive for that Much stack height

Triumph softer, bouncier, and for sure does not have the rocker this shoe has so more traditional in feel. A different approach and option depending on what you prefer.

Hey there! Comparing this one to Ride 13 in term of cushioning, which one do you recommend? I managed to try today only Triumph 18 (only this model in my size) and it is comfortable. But between Shift and Ride 13, which one is more similar to Triumph in term oh cushion, comfort and softness? Cheers!!

Same PWRRUN foam in Ride and Shift but more of it in the Shift and a rigid vs flexible geometry of the Ride with a distinct Speed Roll rocker for the Shift. Compared to Triumph 18 the lighter Shift is a faster more responsive big shoe. The Ride 13 has less stack height so less cushioned and leans slightly better towards faster paces for me than either of the others and is a great all arounder.

10.5 oz wow that’s a lot heavier then I expected and for 140 seems like a lot of money for what you are getting. The integrated stability is nice to have. Why have such a big stack hight in a shoe that’s intended for workouts/as a training tool. With other shoes in this category. Bring a maximal cushioned shoe I would assume it would be nicer for longer runs possibly but theirs better shoes for me. With a bondi being really not runable due to the amount of foam and also a stiff geometry to it. The 1080 is lighter and seem more versatile. The triumph as well would be better. The nimbus light is an oz lighter and is still stable for most Neutral and mild over pronators. And the fuel cell TC would also be a much much better option yes more expensive but your paying for a carbon plate, an amazing underfoot foam and a shoe that you can train in as well as do workouts and potentially race in for many. And at 7.8 oz the fuel cell TC has a better fit and is much lighter as well. Disappointed with this one had higher expectations.

Thanks for your analysis but don't agree in context of the entire Endorphin collection, all with the Speed Roll providing runners who like Saucony a range from race to easier training. The Speed is the workouts or faster pace shoe.

@@RoadTrailRun I work in schools, so walking all day in hallways, doing walking laps in the gym, and then walking outside on roads and really hard packed gravel. I have a bit of a wider foot and require a touch of stability in my shoes

Far far more stable better upper but heavier for sure for Shift bRocker vs some flexibility. Closer compare in ASICS would be GlideRide and Kayano 27

Much much prefer the Shift. The IR may have a touch softer bouncier cushion but the long side rails of the IR spoil it for me. Get in the way of transitions especially the lateral one. Shift has a rigid rocker but rolls far more easily to toe off

How is the fit? Is the length correct? Is the width a good fit? I wear a 11 in nikes, what size are you in nike compared to this shoe? Am I good to get an 11 in the shift?

You should be good to get an 11 in the Shift. Softer than any Nike upper I can think of and a softer more pliable upper generally leads to more room. I was sent half size up from my normal and was fine but true to size likely would have been better

The Saucony Canyon TR is the trail equivalent but is more for mellow than technical trails.

Polar opposites in terms of stability with Shift much more stable and Nova borderline for many unstable. Nova’s midsole is much bouncier and fun but Shift will take most further and in more comfort (upper superior too) despite higher weight
