By the way.I have Speed 1 with more than 500km in all kinds of terrains and paces. Feels like right out of the box. Very rare to find a shoe that performs really close to Vaporfly Next at 10k pace (3'18"/km) and feels almost as comfortable as a Triumph at recovery paces (5'30"/km). And they protect your legs as the super shor they are. Worth every cent I invested in them.

Great vid. Love the Speed 1's and have 700km on them and I reckon another 200/300 possible. Have run roads, pavement, hard packed trails, gravel and no damage to the exposed mid sole (very discoloured though!). Longevity makes it amazing VFM for me. Still feel comfortable and snappy. Not the most stable so watch for tight turns and uneven ground.

@TheRunTesters any recommendations for a recovery shoe pairing with the Speeds? I've been shamelessly re-watching Endorphin Speed reviews to get my fix between runs in the shoe! Ran my first half-marathon in the Speed this July '21 and with the plan to run my first marathon in Oct '21. Primarily reserve the Speed for tempo and long runs and pairing with the Peg 37 for my easy recovery runs. Tho honestly I'd just as soon do all my runs in the Speed but I want to save some of its life for the marathon! Keep up the great reviews!

Have you used the Saucony Endorphine Speed Shanghai edition? I can’t work out if it’s the same shoe as Speed or Speed 2. Let’s be honest I just like the colour..but I’d rather get the 2 so would be sensible and not go with colour if it was actually just the 1.

I’ve got 240 miles in my v1 and have to admit that nylon plate softens after 100 miles and you lose a bit from that. Also with this in mind it does tend to bottom out after about 12 miles. I have high arches and mid foot strike so this maybe why it’s better for Nick. Telling sign for me was my last long run was in the Nike zoom fly Flyknit which has an extra 100 miles and worse midsole compound but gave me more the last few miles.

Great review, coming from the Speed 1's (over 1000km) I'm a little disappointed with the Speed 2's tbh (25km so far) The best improvement for me is the laces, they're not as long as in the 1's and seem to bind together better. The ride so far feels a little firmer in the 2's and the lockdown doesn't feel as snug, this could be down to the roomier toe box? I prefer a really snug fit for my narrow feet (size10) The 2's also seem to feel a bit chunkier and the colourways are a bit dodgy 😊 - They also absorb a lot of water in the wet, way more than in the 1's which made them soggy and uncomfortable (perhaps due to its increased breathability on the upper) Anyway the long of the short is I've just spent another £140 on a pair of Speed 1's in my favourite Colourway - cue sense of relief 😅 - The Speed 2 is definitely is not a bad running shoe in fact its a very good responsive shoe only I prefer the 1 a lot more.

How does it compare to Puma Velocity Nitro and Asics Novablast for a recreational marathon runner?

@@TheRunTesters Yes. And it’s so bad that I’m seriously considering going back to the store where they were on sale for $204 and just buying them. Never mind the fact that the pair they had was a half size too big 😒They we’re still the greatest thing to ever touch my feet. I’ve decided to bribe myself by telling myself I’ll get a pair when I reach several very hard (for me. I’m short and slow) running goals. Under 8 m mile, under 30 min 5k, and under 1hr 10k, and finish a 1/2 marathon at least once. Then I’ll let myself buy them. I figure then they can at least be a motivator.

@johnmunro8973 жыл бұрын
I bought the first iteration of this shoe after rave reviews by, well, everyone on KZbin. Personally they've yet to grow on me, though I've only put 60k in them. While they're undoubtedly fast and light I find the ride harsh and unforgiving on my feet. They're extremely narrow, even on my already narrow feet. I don't particularly like having to cynch laces 'til they meet just to get a good lockdown on a shoe, and as a result I get bad heel slippage in these. The narrow base and high stack height also make me feel like I might turn an ankle. As for them being a "do-it-all" shoe - I find they only really come alive at higher paces when I extend my stride. They don't work with shorter stride lengths, and can actually be quite hard work. I'm trying to love them. But frankly if they can't "do-it-all", then there are plenty of fast and light uptempo shoes out there to choose from (Adidas Boston springs to mind, or the new Adios 6 by the sounds of some reviews).
@TheRunTesters3 жыл бұрын
Hi John, shame the Speed isn't working out for you! Can be especially frustrating when that happens with a shoe that is so widely-beloved, but there still isn't one shoe that works for everyone. Though I (Nick) do think the Speed comes closer than most haha
@johnmunro8973 жыл бұрын
@@TheRunTesters Thanks for your reply Nick. Yeah, I seem to be in the vast minority. I'll stick with them. Coming back from a bad achilles injury has meant I've purposefully increased my cadence and shortened my stride length to reduce impact forces and shift them from a heel strike to midfoot. I suspect the Speed require the opposite to operate properly! Which might explain why they work for a tall lad like yourself! At the moment I find myself reaching for the Invincible Run time and time again, which can churn out large distances at a high (albeit not race) pace...
@TheRunTesters3 жыл бұрын
