Bought the Speeds 2s last week and took them out yesterday for their first run. A really lovely shoe and I don't think I'd need anything "better" for my use. If you've got Vitality life insurance you can get them half price from Runner's Need. So for £77.50 you're getting one hell of a shoe.

I have the Speed 2 and it’s one of the best feeling shoe I’ve ever ran in especially if your a forefoot type of runner but even heel strikers will find it quite pleasing but I still would recommend you try to run with your mid and forefoot to really feel the benefits of the Speed 2.

I have the speed 2 in a size 13M and it is the currently my favorite shoe. I've ran about 250 miles in them and they still feel great if not better... I was thinking about this on my last 2 runs... tempo runs... the shoes felt amazingly plush, bouncy, and fast. They still have a lot more life in them... might even run a half marathon in them in about a month

I run in Brookes Adrenaline GTS and Launch GTS, but have also run in Ghosts before, so i am not a massive pronator. The brooks race show leaves a lot to be desired - so I am thinking of moving across to the Suacony Ride for my October marathon training - introducing it slowly and then buying a pair of speeds for the marathon - do you think it is a workable transition, or should I be going for the Guides and then the Endoprhin Pro's

I love the Speed (1) and I love the Alphafly but its just too narrow for me under my arch. I just bought the Pro 2 for Brighton Marathon but havent taken it out yet. You've got me doubting myself about the Pro for a marathon now. Any better options? (asics not an option)

Hi there I mainly use the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 21 for most if not all my runs which compromise of various terrain and distances up to Ultra. How much of a roll is there in the ankle with these. I do not suffer from a huge pronation and have kept with the Adrenaline because the work. But I really fancy a change in the rotation. If not these what else do you suggest?

I own the speed but am thinking I’d be better with the Pro because I need more stability. You were bang on the money for the Guide 15 too Fordy 👌🏻 First run in those last night and I loved them! My GCT was down too on account of them being so light.

I have learned a tremendous lot about running shoes from you and other key reviewers. I wish I knew back a few months ago what I know now because I ended up buying way more running shoes than necessary. I recently was looking for a pair of racing shoes for my 1st marathon next year. I had heard of the carbon plated shoe advantage but the Nike AlphaFly and VaporFly had me flying away from the price. Then I spotted the Endorphin Pro on clearance for $149.95!! I also knew of the Endorphin Speed but the price had not dropped yet on that. I ran in both on a treadmill test. I found the Pro seemed to have just a little more energy return pop. Now had I been looking for versatility, hands down I would have picked the Endorphin Speed, but I wasn't, so I got the Pro. I have all the other bases covered with other shoes. However, perhaps I made a mistake choosing the Pro because my 10K race pace is only in the high 9's and more than one reviewer has said slower runners don't get the highest value out of the Pro. Even more to the point more than one reviewer has said the Pro is good for the half but not the full. Now they tell me! :-(

@@FordyRuns Well, I am experimenting with different shoes and having a great time. For my 1st marathon next year, I have 3 candidate shoes. The E Pro with the carbon plate, the Mach 4 go for the cush, and even the Skechers Razor 3+ for lightweight and simplicity no plate. I think I will do a half marathon test or at least 10K on each shoe and then decide. In the end, they are all good choices for fun!

Fordy Runs rocks! Can’t hide talent :). I love the Saucony brand although I hate the updated Ride. What shoe would you recommend for a 195 lb guy that likes the firmness and pop of the Ride 13? Running 25-30 miles per week and wanting more miles as I continue building my aerobic base. Happy to buy through your link and support the channel.

I have the pro as my dedicated 10k - half marathon race shoe only because I have 3 other shoes in my rotation that fit a niche purposes (recovery, daily, tempo), however, I'm considering picking up a pair of Speed 2 or 3s next season as a sort of fast daily trainer that could replace the daily and tempo shoes (Pegasus and adios 6). Seems from reviews that it's good at fast pace as the adios 6 but less firm

Have both. For me, I find the speed is better for everyday runs. The Pro works well in regard to tempo runs and threshold runs.

I needed to replace my first pair of speed v1’s and found a pair online for 109 quid, if you can do that it’s a no brainier buy the older shoe I’d probably stick with the v1 even upto £130-£140 as there isn’t too much change in the feel just some of the new colours are cooler than the v1’s, save your money for beer or races people

Yes Fordy good advice dont think the shift serves any purpose in the Saucony line up. Better off buying the Triumph or the Ride which ive got. Unless you are a strong or fast runner the Speed is the only shoe you really need. Ive got three pairs of version one so i don't think i will be buying version two. Yes the speed has to go down as one of the best shoes ever.

Has anyone noticed any issues with feeling like a roller down the length of the Speed that makes it feel as if you foot wobbles from side to side? Have been having knee pain (completely new issue for me) and noticed when I stood on one foot in Speeds I was fairly unstable (have always run in neutrals). Don’t know if knee pain is coincidence or due to shoe ….

Looking for a racing shoe for a road HM as well as London Marathon. Was looking at the Alphafly but can't get them in my size (more like there out of stock) & the price puts me off too. So looking at alternatives., but I'm a bit limited due to my flipper feet. I seems to need a mixture of stability & cushion so for a race shoe do you think the Pro over the Speed?

Would you say the Speeds (and all plated shoes?) are for heel strikers? I bought some following rave reviews on KZbin, but am yet to fall in love with them. In fact I'd go so far as to say I'm beginning to hate them. Extremely harsh and unstable ride (due to the high stack and narrow base), poor lockdown, especially in the heel, and I can't "activate" the plate. I'm clack, clack, clacking along but feel no propulsion using a mid- to forefoot strike. I can run just as fast or faster in an old pair of Epic Reacts, and they don't hurt my feet.

I think you are right to a degree. This is where is comes back to that saving the carbon plates for race day when you are go after a time

Since injuring my achilles I've actively reduced my stride length and increased my cadence, shifting my footstrike forwards. I'm wondering if this reduces or even nullifies the effect of the plate... i.e. it requires a longer stride length (and possibly a heelstrike)?

Some plates like in the speed are less rigid and defo for me seem to come on at those lower speeds but some others like the Adizero pro I am simply not fast enough I feel to benefit. It depends how they are tuned I reckon with the combo of the midsole

I wouldn’t say plated shoes are for heel strikers given the plates sit further forward in the shoe and for efficiency it’s suggested mid foot or forefoot striking is best.

I have the speed 1 (which is awesome) but wanted a race shoe so went for the Pro 2 as I loved the colour mainly. Only ran in the pro once so far and smashed my 10K PR! The pro is firmer and faster , will use it for half marathon races and feel awesome but I prefer the speed for everything else. BTW need to go up half a size fir the pro as the bumpers rubbed my toes. Great review and completely agree.

Ok, I lost my mind and bought with the time all these noteworthy plated shoes. And now I know what I will use and what not. It was a costly game, but I love my legs more. So here are my ratings from 1-6 for the following shoes from the best to worst: Alphafly 6.0 Vaporfly and Metaspeed Sky 5.5 Puma Deviate Elite 5.0. Puma Deviate Nitro and Sketchers Speed Elite 3,5. Saucony E. Speed and Pro 2.5. The Saucony have such low ratings not only because they are nothing special, but because they are ridiculously priced for what they are really worth. The ride and the foam of E. Pro is not comparable to Puma Deviate Elite. Not even close. And the E. Pro is priced at 220€! And Puma 200 €! You can buy now for around 220 € Vaporfly! Vaporfly, Alphafly and Metaspeed Sky are separate category. These are the best! E, Pro should be priced at 160 € at best, or even less, to come even close to what is worth it compared to all these other shoes. Once I started to run in Puma Deviate Elite and Asics M. Sky, I don't even want to waste my energy with E. Speed or E. Pro. And I disagree with the statements of some people that some shoes are only for racing. I assure you, you can use Deviate Elite and Metaspeed Sky for any type of run you want and your legs will be grateful! But all that is just my opinion. Everyone has his/her own favourites. I just wanted to express my disappointment with these 2 overpriced models from Saucony. Saucony, if you put 220€ price tag next time, make sure your shoes run like Vaporfly!
