QD: Living in Houston, Texas my summer training strategy is waking up early and being out the door by 5:00AM to escape the heat and humidity. However, yesterday's run at that time was at 85% with high humidity. At the end of the day (or start) it just has to get done! Hydration hydration hydration!

QD: I do something that most people I see during my runs probably question - I run in a long sleeve base layer and a long thights (both UA). Also, I am wearing a cap and carry a bottle of water/electrolyte mix with me. The long sleeve/long tights have two major benefits: 1. it protects me from any UV rays and sunburn and 2. it quickly soacks up the sweat, wich helps me stay cool(er) through the wind while running. I compared the data on my Garmin and it helps me to run with a lower HR as well. Try it out and thank me later ;)

QD: CHANGE YOUR EXPECTATIONS. Most people will give some good advice on physical preparation. That’s great. But it’s super important in this heat to have different expectations. On a speed workout, be okay with threshold pace, on a threshold workout, run tempo pace. On an easy day IGNORE the pace. If you don’t, you’ll continually get frustrated. Stay hydrated and good luck out there!

QD: During the summer, I typically make sure my runs happen in the morning, and move weight training to later in the day when it gets too hot. Living in Austin, TX it’s already been summer for 2 months! 😂 the best strategy I’ve found though is getting out there earlier in the day around 7am. I know not everyone can do it, but getting the run in and breaking a sweat to kick off the day has been game changing for me during the summer, not only to avoid the heat, but also start off on a strong foot mentally. QD: Training in Florida heat and humidity is rough in the summer. Early morning’s before the sun comes up, or late evenings as the sun is going down. Also, slowing the pace down, even on faster workouts. On a long run, don’t be afraid to stop frequently to hydrate and stretch, as cramping is typically more common in hot weather. No shame in the stopping game.

QD: I learned something this past weekend when we ran during RAGNAR Colorado in Snowmass as it was in the mid 80s up there. Going out in the heat is much easier when you soak your shirt in ice water as well as any headgear you might be wearing. I also had a soaking wet cold buff around my neck. It was so much more comfortable to run in the heat as your shirt is basically a evaporative cooler. And then when you finish your run in the heat, taking a nice cold shower. I remember watching Jim Walmsley running Western States with that Hoka bucket hat and he said it actually worked great for keeping him cool with it being soaked in ice water and having some ice under the hat.

I’ve used both Speed 1 and 2 for ultra distances on some wide gravel courses (no rocks/roots). I’ve used the Next% and Endorphin Pro for marathons, but with the slower pace in an ultra I felt like it was a better choice (response for racing and cushion for 50k/50Mi). I also like them for my tempo work, or long runs with intervals.

I've been waiting for this one. I'm currently waiting for these to come out so I can try them on before I buy. I try to give every company a fair shot but my recent experiences with hoka Have not been good because they just fall apart way too easily. The soul breaks down way too fast the rubber underneath the foot wears away too fast and the upper literally literally had a hole in both pairs that I've bought within just a couple of weeks. Is my experience with saucony However has been the exact opposite. I had the triumph 18 and literally put and literally put 1300 miles into those before they were shot. I currently have the speed too and have put 400 on those and and they still have a lot of life left. The rubber on the bottom still has plenty of miles to go which I'm very happy with. If these shoes were not so expensive anymore I wouldn't complain but complain but buying mach 4 At 150 bucks And seeing a whole pop up up in the Achilles part of the upper as fast as I did for the 2nd time just does not make me want to buy them ever again. I also had the rincon 2 which were very comfortable but again again the soul broke down way too fast and holes in the upper within 2 weeks. I also want to make sure I mention I only wear them for running. I'm not putting daily everyday you smiles on them so it kind of sucks when you feel like you're just throwing money in the trash like that.

On point with that color block, thinking the designer was probably looking at that Smurf girl (Smurfette) when he/she decided to go with that blue/yellow combo.🤦🏻‍♂️😂🤣… still a 🔥🔥🔥 shoe though. Just gonna wait for better colorways and enjoy the Speed 2 at the moment.

What you think saucony speed 2 for USD80? Also for summer its difficult to manage but one can increase a day of running while compromising speed by 5-8% and also distance? Just spread it over the days.. Increase water intake and Carbs slightly as they help in retaining water

At what sort of miles are you guys retiring your Speeds? I've got 2 pairs of the Speed 1's at approx. 500 and 400 miles.

I definitely run significantly less lol. It’s been insanely hot this week and into next week and I can’t even make it 3 miles. Heat index over 100 until about 10pm. Too much for me lol
