Saudagar Ram belongs to the community of Baazigars and is one of the most respected kissa singers in the region, having been a regular performer at All India Radio and various state sponsored functions, besides performing on festive occasions. He learnt the tradition from Naib Kotia Kumhar, a well-known singer in East Punjab (now Pakistan), before migrating to West Punjab during the partition. Almost 80 years old, he lives in Shahbad Markanda in district Kurukshetra (Haryana).

he is for sure from sheikhupura punjab pakistan originally.. sain mushtaq and saudagar ram sing in the same style...sain mushtaq is from sheikhupura , i have to go see him and will be researching on where this style of singing originated
