It is indeed embarrassing but the reason is that the fighter is not prepared to go and defend himself and prove his innocence and the promoter is happy to promote a drug cheat. Instead, they are trying to get around it by fighting on jurisdiction. Meaning that Benn and his team are not claiming that he is NOT a drug cheat, they are saying you should not be allowed to hear whether he is a drug cheat or not.

I care more about boxing which means the best fight the best so I don't like to get into which is the best promoter because they are all in it for themselves BUT I do agree with this, from Groves V Froch to AJ v Wlad, throughout the 2010s, Eddie brought big time boxing to massive arenas across the UK and made the UK the centrepiece of many, many top PPV events only excluding May/Pac and Canelo events. Without Matchroom in the 2010s, British boxing's big money would not be available and the heavyweight division wouldn't be what it is now, certainly not with a banned Fury in 2016 or a Wilder who was fighting nobodies in the US.

Miller took his ban. If he cheats again then he will get banned again, that’s how it works. If Benn proves his innocence (not just “waffle” about it) then he will be allowed to continue on. Benn failed a VADA test, but passed UKAD tests. His lawyers have argued that the BBBoC can't suspend him, because the test he failed was a VADA test, and BBBoC don't recognise VADA as their testing body. Therefor, he's continued to fight, based on a loophole, not because he has explained the negative tests and its all a big misunderstanding, just because of a loophole. BBBoC have appealed the decision to allow him to continue fighting, and now are awaiting the outcome.

But the point Simon Jordan didn't make was that Connor Benn fought in the USA this summer and the BBBoC didn't sanction him or another in contract with him. So if Benn v Eubank happens abroad why would he choose to sanction that, rather than the previous fight Benn had. I can't see that happening to be honest. I think it is ballsy to reject the Benn v Eubank fight, but I believe it to be nothing more than media propaganda. It tallies up with the Matchroom drive to make the fight in February. The appeal will be rejected. And BBBoC want to be seen as being tough in the run up to the verdict. Substantial deposits will be paid for the venue, vast sums for marketing and training camps - the fighters and promoters aren't going to risk that all without having more than a simple sniff of the eventual outcome. I simply can't see it. Either way, whether the verdict goes one way or another, it taints the sport and that's really disappointing.

There are a number of problems with Jordan's comments. Unless I've missed it, and perhaps he is trying to educate an audience that doesn't follow the detail of boxing, he doesn't mention the legalities of the appeal. It was the National Anti-Doping Panel who said that Benn is cleared to fight. However, they did not publish details of why they came to that conclusion. Most reporters believe, though this isn't verified, that Benn's team said 'Conor failed 2 VADA (Voluntary Anti-doping Association) tests. The British Boxing Board of Control do not have the authority to ban boxers based on VADA tests, only UKAD tests.' However, that is speculation and not fact. The NADP have not issued statements on this. It is possible that the BBBoC and UKAD have said something like 'but we've used VADA before. VADA are a respected organisation' etc etc. That doesn't matter. If that relationship or understanding has not been tested legally, then previous behaviour is irrelevant. However, there is a far more important issue here, and Jordan doesn't get anywhere close to addressing it. If you want to appeal a decision by the NADP then there are very clear guidelines for doing so. All this detail is on the NADP website. There is information there which indicates that Benn's case will not go again to the NADP, but it will, as he is an international athlete, go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. If that happens, all the details will be heard. However, if the case simply goes back to the NADP, the case is not re-tried. Evidence is not resubmitted. An appeals' board is put togther and they go over the 'reasoning' of the initial decision, they do not go over evidence. So, as far as UKAD and the BBBoC are concerned, their best chance of issuing a sanction on Benn is for the case to go to CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport). If it goes back to NADP it is very likely the original decision will stand and Benn will be free to box. One final issue. That is money. Just like Fury did with UKAD and the BBBoC, there is the possibility of a very rich boxer playing 'chicken' with an organisation that does not have a lot of money. Benn might do the same. Appealing decisions can be very very costly. Giving notice that you're going to appeal doesn't cost anything. Putting together a team of KCs, lawyers, doctors, data scientists etc is very expensive. Neither UKAD nor the BBBoC has that money...and Hearn and Benn know it.

I feel the more this goes on the more valdity Connor Ben's claim to BBOC having a personal vendetta seems. Ben passes both UKAD tests who report to BBOC he failed two a Vada test over the same period who later excepted the findings of the WBC even if extremely questionble, UKAD later lifted the suspension after investigation whether down to juristictuon or evidence. However the BBOC who normally act on the findings of UKAD have now appealed against the suspension lift and are publicly on Talksport now confirming they have still rejected the renewal of his licence. I think they are on very slippy grounds. We know they can fight abroad as Warren and Fury did the same thing when Fury was banned and didn't have British licence. He fought in America until the Dillian Whyte fight and I'm sure even that may have been on a Navada license as an oversees fighter.

Why do we talk about fights that are not happening? Why don't we concentrate on fights that are happening, because there are plenty of great fights on the horizon. Why do people love the negatives of sport? Everyone labeled the Saudi's terrible, but now there are massive fights there, everyone is celebrating. I can't work all this out. Simon, Benn has already fought and the BBBC did nothing. As Conor Mcgregor said, "You ain't doing nothing".

At the end of the day if Conor Benn wants to fight in the UK as he & Eddie Hearn keep saying it's gonna happen then how about Conor proves his innocence to the BBBOC which Conor hasn't so therefore isn't allowed to fight in the UK. There's no point in hyping up a fight that shouldn't be allowed to happen. Eddie Hearn is just embarrassing himself even more by constantly prompting this fight

Boots would behead Benn in a few rounds. He’s also on the cusp of fighting either Bud or Spence Jr so why would he fight someone who doesn’t have a belt or a high ranking? Also Benn isn’t very skilled, hands in his pockets when he’s throwing squared up, wide hooks, chin up with a severe lack of defence. It wasn’t only a few fights ago he was getting dropped by randoms and having to pick himself up, boots doesn’t get hurt by non-descript opponents, he dominates them.
