Saurian Early AI Demonstration

NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF FINAL GAME OR AI
Henry: Since you last heard from the Saurian programming team, we've been busy with work that's either a) not ready to be shown yet or b) not very interesting to read about unless you're a game developer. As far as AI goes, one of my focuses has been steadily fixing bugs, balancing, and fleshing out the behavior for the animals. This is a very time consuming, often frustrating process--but all the frustration is outweighed by how awesome it is to see the dinosaurs doing their thing in the end. This week, I wanted to share a couple scenes I threw together, showcasing some new dromaeosaur hunting techniques, among other things.

the small details u guys put into behavior and animation i can tell when its done it will be the best dino game ever made. i jus have to add some ideas 1-please give us some more iconic dinos to play has, spino, sarco, or any other theropod like the allo. 2- stay true to what the dino and environment actually looked like. its jus amazing. 3- and last, CONSOLE! i know u guys can smoke ark out of the water. graphics and gameplay wise. most ark player play for the dinos. u give the console players even a mini version of a Dino life cycle and survival feel, it will dominate the dino gaming genre, i promise!!!! anyways thanks for the read. and goodluck on your hardwork. 🤙🏼👍🏼🙌🏼

Your first and second points somewhat contradict each other. Because _Saurian_ is supposed to be a recreation of a specific Hell Creek formation location called Bone Butte, staying true to that environment's ecosystem means that _Sarchosuchus_, _Spinosaurus_, _Allosaurus_, and any other creature not known from this setting won't be included in the game. Additionally, since none of the creatures you mentioned were real-life contemporaries, each would require its own game based on the ecosystems they're from, and in the case of _Spinosaurus_ and _Sarchosuchus_, too little is currently known of their home environments to create as rigorous a reconstruction as _Saurian_ is doing with Hell Creek's Bone Butte. Console was a the last stretch goal from _Saurian_'s Kickstarter campaign, but they didn't succeed in reaching it. Transporting a computer game to consoles requires a lot of licensing and additional software development that Urvogel Games doesn't have the funding for at this point, and given the results of the Kickstarter, it's pretty much reliant on game sales at this point to make console support a viable option.

From conversations on the Discord, I wouldn't expect anything to happen if you collide with a tree, or at least you won't be able to knock them down and I don't think collision damage with them is going to be implemented. You won't be able to phase through them, though.

Can't wait for humans to be released in this game! it will be awesome. Imagine building your own little shelter with friends and suddenly you can hear a T-rex walking up to it, you start running but some of your friends are to slow on their feet, serving as a meal for the hungry beast.

This is a videogame, not a historic documentary.

Saurian is meant to be a scientifically accurate game, so you'll only see things that were known to have lived in the same place at the same time. Everything down to the terrain will be based on up-to-date knowledge/theories of the area.

Would you guys be opposed to adding a Kythera AI to the final build? i don't know much about it other than it's self learning and can potentially make the dinosaurs somewhat more realistic. It was mentioned in the saurian steam forums, heres the link. kythera.ai/meet-kythera/technical-details

Unfortunately learning AI does not ever necessarily mean that it is more realistic. The exact problem Saurian ran into with learning AI is that it is unpredictable. You might get some really cool looking behaviors, but you will also probably get scenarios that look incredibly broken and unintended and without anyway to prevent that from happening.
