Been seeing a lot of these Shadow of War and Mordor videos pop up recently and it makes me happy. My name is Nathan Hendrickson and I was Monolith's Director of Cinematics for Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor and I directed all the pre-rendered content (except the intro, that was Blur) and co-directed the in-game cutscenes with Ethan Walker for Middle Earth: Shadow of War. Troy Baker provided p-cap direction for the in-game cutscenes and our primary layout artists were Travis Phelps, Kirk DeGrasse, and Digital Dimensions. We had a ton of fun making these cinematics and it's great to see people finding and enjoying them so long after release!!

Why doesn’t anyone make a movie on the Silmarillions that focus on the original dark lord himself Morgoth and the valar. I mean we have been introduced to Sauron so many times but not his master aka Melkor before being cast to the void.

Because the Tolkien estate will not budge on selling the rights to do so, look what Amazon did with Tolkiens appendices. Poor JRR must be rolling in his grave :( Galadriel is unrecognizable in behavior, her brother was killed while saving Beren (was killed by wargs, not orcs). They've got legitimate characters that are interacting that never met (time lines, folks)and the writers of the diaglogue are completely inept and unfamiliar with Tolkeins writing style (thus disproving that they are actual Tolkien fans). People claim those that don't like the series, that its about the races of the characters. I actually found that Disa is the only character that is likeable imo. Watched once & disappointed. The CGI was also lacking in quality despite their immense budget.

To be honest it would be hard to portray on film. Morgoth was more or less a god. A fight between the valar tore down mountains and created new seas. The first age the valar didn't have physical bodies at all. Nor the Maia. How do you film a god fight without looking like a marvel movie ??

It's like saying person X is smarter than anyone on Big Brother - it's not like the bar is set high xD Maybe it's better than Rings of Power, but not much. It still breaks the lore and world. If Christopher Tolkien said that Jackson's trilogy 'changed his father story into cheap fantasy action movie', then this he'd hate even more. There's 0 spirit and mysticism of JRR's work. Adaptations or stories set in universe should still be done with some... honor and respect to the author. If they can't respect the author, maybe it's better to just not do the game/show at all.

Nevertheless the tone and the overall mood encapsulates many Second Age events in an extremely intriguing manner . Second Age is the less well documented out of the 3 . The peoples of Middle Earth as a book gives us a good insight on what it was like to live in that Era. I hope someone will take advantage of this wonderful book one day and deliver us a masterpiece worthy of its Peter Jackson predecessor.
