As a movie theater employee, there's one thing I'd add: "Being animated and having cute talking-food as the main characters, won't parents think this is a family movie and bring their kids in?" "I don't think that's going to be a problem. It's not like parents will ignore the R-rating just because it's animated." Cut to angry parent screaming at a movie theater employee for five minutes straight because they ignored the R-rating and brought their kids in thinking that it was a kids movie just because it's animated. Which happened. A lot.

Ever notice that the more "for adults" a cartoon gets, the more childish and immature it actually is?
@agonleed38414 жыл бұрын
yea. Cause the "for adults" part does NOT have to equate to impressive feats of vocabulary. It just means to be able to let go, while simultaneously understanding differences of reality vs what you're watching...in a mindset that younger audiences haven't made it to yet
@crazyweirdgirl1154 жыл бұрын
@@agonleed3841 because often "for adults" just means a lot of sex jokes, not thought-provoking themes or anything, ultimately making it immature.
@anhero23774 жыл бұрын
@@agonleed3841 Nope. Adults don't like the idea of being seen enjoying animation. "For Adult" animated shows like Family Guy need to sell themselves on an exaggerated comedy routine or over the top slapstick that is meant to not be taken seriously. It is because so many adults are childish and don't want to be "seen" a certain way, that we have to put up with this. Please don't pretend that older audiences are all that different or more "developed" than younger ones.
@akunog27084 жыл бұрын
@@anhero2377 "Please don't pretend that older audiences are all that different or more "developed" than younger ones." I think there is validity to the claim that younger audiences tend to have a harder time differentiating between actual reality, and what they see on a video screen. I remember going to sleep as a kid hoping I would wake up with super powers like I saw on Dragon Ball. It takes years and years of accumulated experience to be any good at determining fact from fiction, I don't think anyone is born with that ability; that's why religion is so easy to teach to children too. That being said, i'm not trying to defend this movie, it's garbage on multiple levels hehe. Also I agree that a lot of "for adults" stuff is immature and not well done, but it also doesn't get the funding, or attention that stuff produced for a general audience gets. Oh, and Family Guy is funny because of the slap-stick-cut-a-way gags.. That's like the 70% of the show.. It's not a cover-up to allow adults to be seen watching cartoons without embarrassment.

So if cutting the 1k food puns would drop runtime to 45 minutes... And cutting the swearing would drop the run time to 45 minutes... IF you cut both, would the run time be - 10 minutes?
@anna83283 жыл бұрын
Yeah and half of that would be the rape scene. Stay classy movie.
@magicalminty62033 жыл бұрын
Easy enough, let's do the math. The total run time of Sausage Party was 1h 29m (89m). If cutting food puns would reduce the movie to 45m, then it stands to reason that food puns make up 44m. The same math could be applied to swearing to get 44m of swearing. Since both food puns and swearing would add up to 88m, that means that if you remove both, Sausage Party would have a 1m run time.
@anna83283 жыл бұрын
@@magicalminty6203 And that right there would be the very best version of the movie! Quality stuff!
@DH-xw6jp3 жыл бұрын
@@magicalminty6203 what about the instances of swearing and food puns overlapping, that would unfortunately result in a slightly longer run time.
