I've heard the "horror" stories about removing carrier as well but had to take mine out when my lever was hitting bolt head because the nut backed off. Ya...NOT THAT BIG A DEAL!! I was wondering about spring preload. Thank you my friend for that info!!!

That’s a tougher problem than the magazine. I’ve messed with them, not worth it imo. I don’t know how to explain it but the action is rather sensitive to wear.

I don't have a problem getting down to the rotary thingamajig, However when I got there, the lock screw on the forward end was so screwed up there was no way to get a grip on it, the screw slot is so washed out and obliterated I am concidering drilling it out. Good video though.

The one in my 99EG is not complicated at all. Mine allows you to tension he spring after you install it in the gun.

​@@southardarms When i get the carrier installed and slotted correctly, the outside "wheel" that im keeping pressure on just spins free inside the receiver and releases all spring tension in the opposite direction... i dont understand whats happening. can you help?

Hard to say unless I can see what you're doing, make sure your rotary catch is in proper position
