Nice job. You did not over polish which can be a real temptation for many. I had a 511 that I really enjoyed. I still have a six-round magazine for 1. I plan to get another rifle some day. The 510 thru 521 action was a great performing action. I also had a 512 at one time.

I believe you attached the rear sight backward. The rear sight should be toward the action not the muzzle. Otherwise very nice job.

So I wasn't aware that 511 is a magazine feed type, and the 510 is just a single shot per hand load

511, 513 and 521 are all the same clip feed action. 512 is tubular. 510 was also available as a smooth bore.

Can you rebarrel one in 17 Mac 2 ?

Probably, but you likely would have to bore the barrel and put in a liner. The 511 shoots shorts, longs and long rifles. I personally would not mess one up to turn it into something as worthless as a 17.

It's possible, but it involves more than just rebarreling, you got redo the ramp, headspace and chamber, timing the bolt, and expanding the magazine feed.... Expensive, and kinda not worth it. But it's your firearm, son do with it what you like
