Good video! Do you think that having no covering on the fuse was another reason for the spins?

I’ve been flying rc planes and helis for over 30 years and the HK Savage Bobber has been the only plane I’ve had that defies logic! It would fly perfectly one flight and the next be almost uncontrollable. Gave it to a fellow flyer who thought it was cute and it’s no longer a problem for anyone!

Every Savage Bobber sucks 🤣 They look great they fly okay then they will do exactly that! Happened to me, two of my friends and saw few videos on that model with a 30cc. That poor guy crashed it twice! Bobber is a cursed frame 🤣🤣🤣

following tom hunt's argument for not using right thrust angle and then using rudder to counter, shouldnt he do away with down thrust angle as well and use elevator to counter? I believe right thrust helps lessen the work and makes flying more enjoyable. it does not mean that using right thrust, pilots do not learn to use rudder anymore.
@tomhuntFPV
@tomhuntFPV 6 ай бұрын
The short answer is no, just because you do away with right thrust, you do not do away with down thrust. these angles (attempt) to correct very different upsetting moments on the vehicle. Do you know where right thrust in models came from? .... the old freeflight days when they had NO control! they needed the right thrust to trim the model during climb. once we started putting radios in our models right thrust should have gone away! Any amount of right thrust only helps at one power setting, one airspeed and one angle of attack.... anywhere but this magical point you still need rudder! so why bother trying to correct for a condition that is transient? Full scale aircraft don't have right thrust! (I challenge you to produce a factory drawing of a single engine full scale aircraft that has right thrust!) they do however have down thrust! (even a BF-109E hard up thrust!). this is to help trim the aircraft in pitch due to power changes which is NOT a slipstream effect, P-effect or gyroscopic effect as in the tendency of an aircraft to turn left when the prop rotates CW from the cockpit and prop disk is not normal to the direction of flight!

I thought it must have been a control lockout that caused the crash, why did he go from a nice left turn to then go full throttle and point the thing straight up? If you wanna keep it flying then lower the nose and level the wings

Just looking at some freeze frame and how that plane is built. it carries a high angle of attack wing compared to the stab. I think a bit of washout on the wing would solve that planes faults. And yes too much right thrust is an issue also. Not so much noticeable on the ground.. P-factor as on takeoff you gear holds some of that back. But in a airborne situation at slow speed and full power it will bite ya. Sad loss.. It was a beautiful plane.

Sorry about your plane but Thanks for this. Got a 2400 mm NE1 Navy Piper. I went eclectic as well. I think i have the thrust angle set right but this bird is made for a gas or nitro motor. im sized correct gas to electric but im hesitant for the maiden

Building 4 Savage Bobbers from scratch 2,5m span , for me and my friends, I can say, it´s almost a problem of pilots, who are so called experts, when it comes to crash. When you stall this type of plane, which is almost a modified Piper PA 18, you must know some aerodynamics, which are typical for this behavior. 1. Bopper has a frame fuselage, which compared to the original is amost turbulent between wing and elevator - big disadvantage. 2. Putting a 12 pitch prop for a slowlflyer is a real mistake, because torque is much too much at high alpha. When you are in a stall, it makes no sense to use rudder to stop it. First you should have some airflow at the rudder to get response. Beginners know , that your airplane, when it is started at too low speed , will roll to the right and crash. One of my friends got the same result as shown in the video, when he tried to fly an upright torque roll and the Bopper stalled to the right side until ground. We are using 22x8 props and fly without trouble. You must always control the speed between 1/2 and full throttle. Savage Bopper sometimes is too heavy, ours weight is 6kg +/- . In General, there is no big problem when you watch the above mentioned facts. We fly Bopper for FPV and it flys by itself very stable, like a typical Piper.🙂

That plane is a bad total garbage plane, because is only fuse wires the rudder is not that effective 100s of those have only 1 flight.

I'm always afraid some hawk, eagle, or coyote is going to snatch up his dog. I have an Apple Head Chihuahua and he has a coyote and bird of prey proof jacket and hood on at all times when we are in areas with wild animals. It saved him from a Coyote attack 2 years ago. The coyote got nothing but a mouth full of spikes and yelped away. I was never a little dog person until I got Pedro the Chihuahua.

Down and right thrust is a MUST on all tail draggers and most all planes. He just stalled it. Torque took over and snapped it in.

So is legend hobbies degrees for mounting the engine wrong ? Your video proves to be one of a few videos out there with the same type of stall “dropping a wing”. I have one ready to build with a 35cc gas engine so I will definitely be paying attention to the degrees of the engine mounting as it make me curious and nervous.
@Jays_rcgarage
@Jays_rcgarage 7 ай бұрын
You won’t have an issue. It isn’t mounted wrong. It’s just the torque of the 200kv electric motor was way to much for that thrust angle recommended for a gas engine: it is a scale flying plane and should be flown cautiously. Fly it like a full scale and enjoy it ! I’ll be doing a 30-35cc on a new one

404 as i have said before, there was relatively more noise/vibration coming from the prop/nose at that moment. p-factor can have nothing to do with roll to the Right. conclusion: vibration-induced servo glitching was involved in this crash; and in your almost crash. all the guys who like to fly slow should LEARN to do it WITHOUT deploying flaps.! when deployed, flaps make extra lift NEAR the fuselage/center line. this is BAD. because, the extra inboard-located lift tends to partially un-load the ailerons. if that happens, roll-axis control authority is Reduced.! p-factor comes from the prop, not the motor. the prop is always gonna be spinning at roughly the 'same' rate, in all cases. d
