I'm neither deaf nor understand sign language, but I randomly burst into tears when I got to that part again after all these years. Maybe it's the nostalgia that hit me hard there. 3:13 the moment when Darren Hayes breaks into sign language just tears me up. I remember standing in front of the TV when this video would play and learning the moves. It literally felt like I was reaching out beyond just regular words to tell someone "Let me be the one to call..." Maybe I was reaching to the universe, maybe I was reaching out to myself, but I don't think any music video has made me feel so connected. The video in hindsight is also one of the best of the era. It's got those weird people in it, and as the quote goes "broken people fix broken people". Thank you SG. This band was woke before it was cool and became uncool.

These brothers used to be my idols. I was 5 when I purchased their first LP. Took me three months of saving up my allowance and paper rout. They were my idols. About two months after purchasing their second album on CD, I was torn apart about their split. I still sing truly, madly, deeply in my head (and humming it aloud) in my head every time I'm beside my wife, holding her hand.

This is not the sort of music or voice I usually like at all, but the sentiment behind so many of the Savage Garden songs feels so human and kind and genuine that I can't help but love them. Listening to this song feels like being hugged by a parent who'll love you no matter what. =)

I cried when I first listened to this song. I was at my darkest times: bullied, alone, and helpless.. this song helped me to face all my demons to become what i am now: strong, confident and wise. The end of this video makes a lot of sense... when troubled, communicate in any way, anyhow.

I saw this as a teenager and it's only now I realize that she can't talk. That's why she is behind glass. She feels trapped and unable to do anything but observe, but she watches how everyone else with voices are unable to communicate anyway. She imitates or reacts, but they never really see her. It's only until Darren starts using signing language with her that she communicates with anyone else in the video, finally, and when they do, they mirror each other perfectly. I feel like I should've noticed this all before.

For me, this isn't just one of the greatest Savage Garden songs, it's one of the best songs ever made by anyone! It has a calm, safe and relaxing feel to it but at the same time delivers a powerful surge of uplifting strength. This purely beautiful and divine sound that is created just takes your soul on an emotional ride through the airwaves. The lyrics I think we can all relate to at some point in our lives. It's sad in one sense, but very comforting in another. Also as for the video, I think it fits very well with the song. I'm not normaly a fan of music videos as I think videos ruin the vision and imagination of what the mind produces when we listen to music that we make a connection with. But this video with its moody interpreted art does well to work with the song. All in all, I'm glad to be alive to experience this wonderful treasure. Daniel and Darren, you should both be very proud to have made this. You have touched people's hearts and feelings everywhere. Thank you, and may this masterpiece be heard by many more for years to come.
