Excellent couldn’t have done it better myself lol I needed to explain to a friend and he just wasn’t getting it. You helped better than I could explain. Thank you.

This is such a great gun - especially with a 20-round mag instead of the stock 10. Very accurate rifle.

Recently acquired a model 954 LS. Will this disassembly work?
@davesgunchannel Жыл бұрын
I think it should, the 954 in the 64 are listed on the same user manual.

I have a question what's the best magazine for this gun
@davesgunchannel10 ай бұрын
I have only used the Savage magazines that came with it. If anyone else has used something different, please chime in!

Good video. How many per shot do you recommend to do this excersize and the cleaning?

Lol. Depends on who u talk too. They'll also tell u what cleaning products to use. That also depends on who u talk to. I say clean it with whatever gun cleaner u want they're all basically the same. Your not gonna hurt. Going back to your original question.. I don't clean my guns everytime I shot. In my opinion there is no need for that. That being said, if I was to clean a gun more often it would be a .22 because the ammo is dirtier than most any other caliber. From reviews I read supposively these rifles are pretty sensitive to the type of ammo u run. And sense these rifles are only like $100 bucks they may need to be cleaned more often to function properly. I would clean once every couple times u use it.. just my opinion.

In my personal opinion. Deep clean this (disazsembly as seen in this video) only once the action starts feeling rough or sticky. At the end of the day I'm done shooting it though, I just lock the bolt back. Spray a little solvent on the bolt face, a little down the barrel. Run a 22 cal brass brush down the barrel, run a dry patch, then run a patch lightly doused with gun oil. And put a little gun oil on the bolt face and a little on the side of the bolt and far side of the chamber then work the action to spread the oil.. emphasis on using very little of the oil for lubrication. Don't need carbon fouling to cling to it and gum stuff up.

This level of disassembly shouldn't be needed until you have fired 500 - 1000 rounds through the rifle. For quick clean ups after a shooting session of 50 - 200 rounds you should be able to use a BoreSnake or PatchWorm for that. Running screws in and out of threaded holes, pulling apart tight fitting nearly pressed in parts, bending and flexing tension springs will wear it out prematurely otherwise. Most .22s shoot best with fouled or dirty barrels as well. It's a excellent functioning rifle that works and shoots pretty well. It's also cheap and very affordable rifle at $149 or less to buy one new. They poorly designed the field stripping and take down part though when this was designed many decades ago. You shouldn't need any "tools" to disassemble anything for cleaning. Certainly not to this level with all those washers, screws, pins, spacers etc etc to get fumbled and lost. I bought mine for a very specific purpose to keep loaded and leaned up in the corner by the back door for shooting varmints and pests. I didn't want to leave a $300+ rifle loaded, out, and always ready for that.

@@sasukedemon888888888 Yep, you run the risk of stripping out screws, losing and damaging parts every time you take a rifle like this all the way down. For routine maintenance I think it is entirely unnecessary and I bet mine will last longer than theirs.
