I went to the Porsche website and the technical stats didn't load on my new browser, only on IE11. Probably all that cookie, data tracking, surveillance crap I am not letting through on my current one. - Also inconsistent presentation. For some but not all models I had to scroll all the way to the bottom to find technical specs and those didn't mention max engine RPM. Crappy web design is analogous to orange peel skin. It's abundant in all price classes. And it's sad because a couple years ago the Porsche website stood out to me for not making issues but working fine eben with total cookie blocking and everything. Which is a side topic: The more marketing gathers analytical data about customers, the less they promote expertise to understand them naturally. It cripples human traits.

My takeaway from these last two videos is that the 992 would be lighter than the (add lightness company) Lotus Evora GT, if it did away with the sound deadening, tech, stereo, ect to match the Evora GT. The 992 is such an engineering marvel. I do love that unlike the Corvette, you can still get a manual transmission on the 992. This was a fantastic break down of everything on the 992. This video produced a newfound respect for the 992 I wouldn't have otherwise had. Such a great job on this fellas

@@MiguelGarcia-vj7oo Oh I know some of their racing pedigree. What I don't like is how much they look alike from year to year. You need 5 to 10 years to notice a difference. This review showed some of the changes made under the skin which was a lot and apparently all added up major improvements. The only Porsche that impressed me a lot was the 918 and that was years ago.

@@rynomite_ I think I know why they do it and its a good reason. The problem is over the years the roads have a lot of them and unless you're a fan boy its hard to tell the difference year over year. They loose their "specialness". They're at a point now where I don't think their fans would allow significant changes. There is less incentive to trade up for a newer model. It allows them to put more money in the rest of the car and most of the time it works (except the move to all turbos.) I think the Taycan looks a lot better and is still a Porsche. Whoever thought a Porsche should sound like a Subaru was wrong. Hey, I'm not a marketing expert its only an opinion.

What a great review. Probably the most comprehensive 992 review I've seen anywhere. Love the engineering details you guys covered. About the only issue I had is the comment about trial braking and how all 911's are good at it. That's totally false. I have a 997.1 C2 and my number one complaint about the handling is how you CANNOT trail brake the car. Lots of Google searches will you show that for the 997, Porsche decided they would not allow the car to rotate under braking -- even if you turn off TC and PSM. So even if you turn off PSM it's never fully off and you can't get the car to rotate, unless you purposely upset the car to the point where PSM can't correct for you. As an experienced driver who was able to consistently trail brake a Lotus Elise through corners around all kinds of race tracks, I can't do it in my 997. And it's super frustrating. Other than that little personal trigger, it was a great video.

In 2013, I brought my 2012 991 Carrera into the Porsche Dealer for an annual tuneup and oil change. I was loaned a 997 Carrera S. After driving the S for the day and then picking up my 991, the comparison just blew me away. The newest generation was so much better than the previous generation that my Carrera standard was so much better than the S in every area. Apparently 8 years of evolution in the S, makes the latest generation so much more car than the earlier generation that the two are almost not comparable. It is so much better. An interior that is special and still has switches and the electronics that control the car make it an amazing experience and in control in all cases, even during the rain. The 991 was so much car that I'm in no hurry to part with my old NA 3.4 liter standard Carrera. For those who don't have a Porsche but always wanted one, the S version of this latest car (or a GTS version) is the one to have, unless you have to have a super car. Then you'll have to pony up the money to afford the GT3. AF

Really like your reviews guys - you cover cars the way they should be done. I recently took delivery of a 2021 991 S with all RWS, PDCC and PASM and you have hit the review spot on and accurately. Strong work. And as a 991.1 owner doing the upgrade to the 992, you are right on the money as to how this new platform blows away the prior generation.

Great video on the best overall sports car ever made. Im sorry Mark but I have to push back on your opening complaint as your hands should always be at the 9 and 3 o’clock positions, not 10 and 2 where they block the view but more importantly, the 10&2 positioning limits your range, it allows your hands to close into a clinched fist on the wheel, making your inputs too tense vs the open handed grip at the 9&3 position that encourages more measured inputs and keeps the leverage even for both arms as you turn the wheel... and so on. I got teased constantly by my performance driving instructor for going to a more relaxed hand position in between our technical sections.

I feel like I should live-blog the 20 minute tech section. 13:42 Where are sensors for rain sensing wipers and would they overrule the wheel-well wetness sensors ? Trust Porsche to design for the scenario where it stopped raining but you still have a wet road, but no other traffic, so there is no wet spray to trigger the windshield wiper sensors.

Mr. Goose, I have been your subscriber since 2 years ago and in one of your videos, my comment got the most likes was the "getting trick into the wrong cars" the fine print series. This Porsche 911 992 generation review was so good yet very heavy! I have to pause to really understand the technical topic that you explained twice. I let my friend who is in mechanical engineering in Uni. He let his professor knows and it now becomes an informal discussion material for his class! Thank you for your quality content!

Guys, you are the best at really unpacking any car you review to its core, from its basic building blocks to what makes it work, then giving your honest impressions of the car after driving it. So much better than all the ho-hum reviews on the net. Keep up the good work. And, oh yeah, the 992 911 is simply magnificent, thanks to Porsche for their persistent R&D that somehow keeps making this iconic car better with each iteration.

Porsche is more reliable than any Japanese car brand. In fact, it's been the MOST reliable car brand in the world for 2 years in a row globally, topping Lexus on 2nd place. And before that, it was always in top 3. And it's not even reliability, it's DURABILITY that puts Porsche in a totally different league. They can take abuse over years and still drive and feel like brand new, while Japanese cars tend to rattle themselves to pieces. People need to realize the difference between DURABILITY and RELIABILITY. Two different terms, and European cars tend to get shat on for reliability (mostly due to terrible servicing in USA) , but their durability is ignored. And they're WITHOUT ANY QUESTION the most durable in the world, with Porsche coming on top of that heap most likely.

A great job guys thank you ! I own a pristine Silver ( 55k miles) 997 coupe 6 speed stick sunroof Porsche sport seats and exhaust. It runs better than new ! I have been struggling about buying a new one . One thing that really irritates me as you mentioned is the poor design of the instrument cluster and no manual option unless you order the new T or S . I also prefer a non turbo car and have read that there will possibly be a mid year refresh with a 4 liter non turbo engine and a better dashboard. One of the best videos I have seen on the 992. Brilliant! You also got a great spec, it made open the configurator. That said, at two points in the video (last one at 29:55) you mention "Volkswagen Audi Group", assuming this is your interpretation of VAG; I want to warn you that is not correct. It stands for Volkswagen AG = Volkswagen AktienGesellschaft. The international name of VAG is simply Volkswagen Group.

Amazing technical presentation and so close to my driving feelings, I could add that lighting system is so good even without PDLS it is wide and the defined area is so accurate. Honestly the driving feedback this 992 gives is incredible, I thought that it may barely égale my x 981/gt4 but it over passes in terms of accurate steering feel and sharpness, the breaking despite being smaller diameter are so consistent and progressively powerful, not taking about the engine that is I bet more around 470 bhp. Porsche made this 992 so addictive to drive, my advice : never try one on a well known road you will feel upset by other car until you can get one.

A car that you've got to stay on top of it or it will bite.. something that requires cojones, not that WARNS YOU IF IT DETECTS WATER".. there must be remained someone out there willing to purchase something that really rewards you because it's difficult
