If there is one thing this song does right, is that it perfectily shows how hatred has no exceptions.

This, by far, is THE most evil of any Disney villain song for one very good reason: it speaks the truth of the events of that time. As much as I love Hellfire (possibly my favorite villain song), it ain't got shit on this truly sinister work of art.

I very much agree. it is MY favorite.

I especially love the fact that it's not just one side being arrogant, it's both sides of the conflict that are blind and full of hatred. That to me is the best part of this song, it's so full of hatred and misguided confusion, trying to point at an enemy that's "different from us". God, the creative mind behind this song was a genius! Whoever he or she was!

this isn't the only Disney song to receive changes to the lyrics based on overdoing the racism. "Arabian Nights" from Aladdin was changed a bit also. A verse was changed from "Where they cut off your ear if they don't like your face" to "Where it's flat and immense and the heat is intense. It just happens sometimes

by we you mean humans right? In that case yes. "war never changes" as fallout says. The problem with this movie though is it butchers the real person's account, and makes it a hippy peace loving show. Far from reality indeed. Although nothing is all doom and gloom, you just have to accept the bad with the good.

Given what happened to the Real Life Governor John Ratcliffe, this song takes on a different tone. -------------------- During The Starving Time in December 1609 or early 1610, Ratcliffe and 25 fellow colonists were invited to a gathering with a large group of Powhatan Indians. The Englishmen were promised they would be given corn in return for copper, but it was a trap. The colonists were given food baskets that were nearly empty, the Powhatan Indians ambushed them and Ratcliffe was taken to the village. Only two colonists escaped. Ratcliffe suffered a particularly gruesome fate: he was tied to a stake in front of a fire. Women removed the skin from his entire body with mussel shells and tossed the pieces into the flame as he watched. They skinned his face last and finally burned him at the stake. This story was documented in an eyewitness account that is included in The Jamestown Adventure: Accounts of the Virginia Colony, 1605-1614 (Real Voices, Real History), edited by Ed Southern. He was given the nickname Luckless Captain Ratcliffe ---------------- So... yeah. _Savages_ Funny how that part never seems to make it into any of the stories.

crazy. poor guy. i mean, before someone comes and says "they were on their land". You wouldn't say this if it was a conquest of lands that were more near each other. Them being on the other side of the sea doesn't make them Martians, they're still coulpable of war crimes in the eyes of us living in 2023

Does it? illegal immigration is still illegal, and refugees are fine if they assimilate in a nation. when in rome so to say. However some nations are just flat out not accepting refugees (saudi's), While others take in so much they can't handle it. (sweden) You can't just let everyone in, it's not possible to sustain your own people if you just let them in. Lets say you do let in a million or more? what then? how are you going to help them, while your own people have to deal with home problems that are made worse because of letting in more people. Such as unemployment. It's not a black and white issue, but a shade of gray. OH one last thing. These are totally differnet problems. :P just saying.

WHY would they change the lyrics, I can't understand. Like "Here's what you get when races are diverse!" to "Their whole disgusting race is like a curse!" - what's the point?? Both are equally racist statements, and racism IS the point here, isn't it? Or was it because the first sounds like a statement about mixed cultures which is politically incorrect? This is a villain song, it's SUPPOSED TO BE politically incorrect! It's just so pointless to change it. (Both versions sound good though, so it's alright.)
@blueteller7 жыл бұрын
I know. It's just pointless to change it from my perspective.
