Savants: A hands-on artist

A childhood injury left Alonzo Clemons with severe brain damage. He can't read or write or do math. And yet, as naturally as the rest of us breathe, Clemons can create beautifully intricate sculptures of animals, all with his bare hands. Susan Spencer reports.

I have one of his horse sculptures that was in my closet i got for free when i was cleaning out a house about 5 years ago. The owner said keep it or throw it away. It was so detailed and beautiful for a animal. I saw the cbs sunday morning show and saw the story and ran to my closet and pulled out the horse. Everything matched. Same style name. Before the story on sunday i tried at least 6 times to find out who it was made by. I couldn't be more happy now i know☺☺

He has to be supervised I am sure. Too innocent and trusting toward people. This man is VIP. They are most likely selling his sculptures and that is enough to pay his room, board, and anything else he's like to endeavor.

Selling his artwork and working part-time is probably the only way he can afford to stay in expensive Boulder. lol. All jokes aside, what incredible talent he has. It is interesting to me how he only seems to sculpt animals. I wonder if he has tried to sculpt other things, people, etc.

I met a Calendar Savant Last night... I was buying wine and I had to tell the cashier my date of birth. The Bagger looks at me and instantly says, "That's a Thursday! The day you were born was a Thursday!" The Cashier says, "OH yeah, he can instantly tell you what day it is on any date!" So I came home and googled my birth date and yep it was Thursday!
