You think about this:Savatage, if you really listen to them closely, tend to remind you of Ozzy, at least in the way they did their music. They're definitely Heavy Metal, of course, but they don't sound like any of "The Big Four" (That being, of course, Anthrax, Megadeth, Metallica, or Slayer). Savatage were never THAT heavy, but they were still Heavy Metal. Over the years, we've seen different styles of Metal come along, but nothing-NOTHING!!!-beats the classic sound of what I call regular, old-fashioned, Heavy Metal!
@daronolenus39113 жыл бұрын
Probably he's the reason I took my guitar & Smashed it to a billion pieces I could never play like that man if practiced for the next 50 years. My personal opinion he's one of the most underrated guitarists I've ever heard. This the pinnacle of heavy metal!!! JEALOUS that's me😩🤐😟
@marcribaudo19653 жыл бұрын
I remember seeing them on their Dungeons Are Calling era tour at L'Amours in Brooklyn or at City Gardens in Trenton where they played with Testament and Nuclear Assault. I always made sure I was on the left of the stage where Cris would usually be, sitting with my mouth wide open and in a trance like state. I've seen some great guitarist in my club days but Cris was just one of my favorites. It's hard to believe it's been nearly 30 years that the metal community lost a true icon.

RIP Criss Oliva. I remember buying the Sirens album with the original black/blue cover on Par records back when it first came out. No debut album has ever blown me away like that one, and that was 34 years ago, when most independent releases suffered from poor production values. Production on Sirens was raw, but there was no denying the talent of this band. Me and my friends KNEW Criss Oliva's name because he riffed with total style and just shredded in all the right ways without forgetting the song itself. Thank you for posting this video. A great reminder of a great band and an all-time great guitarist that much of the younger generation never got to hear. RIP Criss.

Far away in a land caught between time and space Where the books of life lay We fear this castle of stone The mountain king roams all alone in here But he's not the only one Lost inside, forever hidden from the sun Madness reigns In the Hall of the Mountain King, oh yeah His deep dark eyes keep watch on his kingdom And the mysteries that sleeps safe inside His hall, his towers of stone Shall not be overthrown for eternity It is guarded by the king Insanity and the power that it brings Madness reigns In the Hall of the Mountain King, oh yeah In the Hall of the Mountain King, oh yeah... Come with me, stay close by my side As the darkness of night closes in Don't fear in the thunder it roars When the Mountain King calls all his children home To where I hid him we must run Refuge here, for those forever on the run Madness reigns, my friends...
