Hi Brain, I like the video which you have done. 👏👏👏 Please check my link below as well i have tried the concept of Studio library of maya. the only option which is not available is thumbnails, but it does all other features. Please feel free to check the addon and let me know if anything i can change in that. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pH_aY6eLaL6SeZo thanks again

Cool video... but I rly don't get why ppl try to avoid the NLA-Editor. Learn it and use it and your workflows will be much more flexible especially with client work. If you work in games you HAVE to work with it because it will save you so much time. I can not work without it anymore... it's like ppl would try to avoid the Animations Layers in Maya.

It can definitely be very helpful, I was too harsh on it in this video but overall it's not the tool to learn if you're only getting started with Blender. if I had the option to use the Animation Layers addon or the NLA editor, I'd be picking the animation layers addon since it gives you the same tools with a much improved workflow. I still agree with your point though!

As someone who worked with maya professionally, Animation layers are extremely heavy and depending on the pipeline you work with you have to bake down the layers which will make it a nightmare if you have to go back into the shot after it's been lit or shot finaling has messed with it. Secondary animation controls like double roots or double head controls are far more useful and less destructive and faster.
@GlitchmanVGM

@@whiskerbiscuit6674 Double roots and head controls? This is the first time I've heard of this. How does that work?
@BrianKouhi
@BrianKouhi Ай бұрын
Having secondary sub controllers can be very handy, our rigs have an option to turn it on/off, for example if your main controller is constrained to something but you still need to move it, you can use the sub controllers. Or if you want to add another secondary action but don't want to mess up your original animation, you can add that to the sub controller instead and will have an easier time adjusting it.

This might be a super dumb question but ill ask just incase someone else wants to know :) If you go ahead and sequence your animations using actions for example a walk cycle to run, stop, drop and roll. What is the recommended approach to the overall position of the character? do you animate the God Bone or root bone to create the distance and direction of the character as the walk, run, stop, drop and roll. Or would you add a follow path constraint to the entire rig onto a selected curve and just animate the constraint value? Would love to get a Pro to make this less of a mystery to me, and I 100% agree with your opinion on the NLAAAAEEEW Editor, its horrific :D

Hey! There's no specific timeline as they're all additional videos, but currently we're working on several videos for the Mentorship course, after that we'll be uploading some more Demo-reel videos to the Animation and Mentorship courses, followed by some more Advanced animation videos for both courses.

The asset library doesn't save animations, it saves poses. I mentioned in my Blender 4.0 update video, and have a video on it when it was first released on Blender 3.0.

i still find blender so complicated to use, and because of my adhd i get overwhelmed, i am still peristently doing the to animate course, but now i am doubting if i have what it takes to be an animator as i am getting adhd burnout and am dreading trying to memorise all the longer tutorials
@BrianKouhi

Animation is definitely not easy, and it's not a quick thing you can learn. It takes years to learn animation, even to get to the point of landing a job. Learning the software is just a small part of it. Don't be discouraged if it takes you a long time, as it's a collage curriculum that's typically 3-4 years long and most students also do online school either after collage or during. Do it at a pace where you won't burn out.

use a catalyst for motivation , if your into roblox , make roblox animation in blender there youtube channels out there, or into fortnite, look into fortnite porting app by half, it does alot of the heavy import loads and play around making poses and renders, any blender community discord will help with any burnout , I took the dillangoo course and got more frustrated from it, because I wasn't ready for blender interface, switching to pose and object..instead I gradually over an hour or two a day , looked up tutorials on a specific task, and repeated that tutorial for a week straight , until the UI frustration went away, but most importantly remove negative self talk, adhd is toss around too much. substance painter interface much more daunting but the lesson from blender made it the learning curve much quicker

I struggle with a similar problem. I myself have a form of autism which is different I think but I try to avoid thinking it hinders my ability to do something great. I know It takes so long to do animations and I watch all these tutorials but I end up just sitting in my chair getting nothing done sometimes. I just take a break, get something to eat or drink and think about other things for a bit. When I come back I just think of all the things I could make one day if I learn this and it motivates me to keep going. Take it slower to start off with. The more you do it the faster you will get, and the easier it will feel. Hopefully you'll get past that learning curve and start making things the world hasn't seen yet :)

Do these add ons work with any model including gaming rigged characters like the sims and Fortnite?
@BrianKouhi
@BrianKouhi 5 ай бұрын
It's not the model that it's saving the movements of it's the rig's. You need to be using a Blender rig. So if you take a game character model and rig it in Blender, then you'll be able to do this.

Thanks for the explanations. On 9:50 you forgot to key the influence on the frames and it is doing nothing, you set it to 0 (you need to press i on top of ti to key it), then move to the frame where you still want it to be 0, key it again, and move to the frame where you want 100% and then key it. That way it will actually blend as you expected.

Well that's disheartening. We've spent 3 years and nearly 6 figures of our own money developing the lessons and assets, and it's our livelihood. The people who pirate and or re-sell our courses are just hurting us personally :( That being said, they may have some of the videos, but they won't have the constant addition of the lessons, assets and most important of all, our private community where every student's question gets answered. Learning is nothing without the support of instructors and fellow students.

way easier way to do this.. just use the NLA editor - it also allows you to blend the animations so you dont have to add the in betweens. The NLA editor is great. Very similar to the way you blend animations in Unity. Not sure why you said it's hard to use.. you are misleading people.
@BrianKouhi
@BrianKouhi 3 ай бұрын
Not misleading anyone, even the people working on the NLA editor admit how buggy and unintuitive it is to use currently. That's why they're working on a rehaul and are switching to a layers approach in the coming versions of Blender. If you're comfortable using it, please do so, this is just another way of getting it done.
