Interesting, but too fast and not showing the keys. Also the "little thing" with the eight rounds at the end was interesting, but I understood nothing within this half of a second.

Thanks for the free files, however when i download the file i get this file name: TOAnimate Robot Rig V1.6 , and when I try to install it Blender says it was installed but there is no Add-on to activate.
@BrianKouhi6 күн бұрын
In the exercise files below the Robot download, you should download the TORigUI (TOAnimate Rig UI). That's the addon you should install as an addon, not the rig file. Make sure to check it on after installing.

This is why Blender is trash. The ui is horrible. Animation layers are trash. All basic obvious things are hidden or you have to know how to find them.

You can hide and unhide the channel box in Maya too... The difference is that you know where it is in Maya and know the hotkeys but haven't learned where it is in Blender and haven't spent any time learning the hotkeys.

Hey Brian BIG FAN BROTHER I just wanna ask that when i trying to animate something it goes very bad from me. 1. how do you animate something so perfectly ? How Much Time You Give to your animations to make it so cool ?
@BrianKouhi17 күн бұрын
Thanks man, I appreciate it! It's all about practice and the process. Animation is an art, and requires a ton of practice to get better and faster. It's also extremely time consuming, so if you try to rush an animation, it will always look bad. Disney has an animation quota that can range from about 3-7 seconds a week per animator (and these are Disney animators). Here's a free video we released from our course, where you can animate a walk cycle from scratch using a free rig we provide: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4TYYWB9nZucoq8si=iMt0l3dQH1jwEY4w

We'll it seems like you're at the start of your animation journey, in which case just focus on understanding and practicing the animation fundamentals. It's not possible for me to write a comment about how to become an animator and steps to take, that's what my videos are for and the main reason we created TOAnimate (which has over 55hrs of video content + 100+ PDF handbooks). I don't want to sell you on it, but use it as an example of how much content it takes to get someone from little animation experience to being able to make a demo reel. Even after that course students have to practice a ton to have a chance of landing an animation job. Give my free videos a watch and do research on what makes a good demo reel. I Have some videos on that too.

You have a very strange definition of the word creative. Any choice you make from multiple potential options is a creative step. You even mentioned making a choice which inspires you, which is clearly creative in a personal way. You give some useful tips, but unfortunately I think they will be lost in the confusion. I'd recommend that you remake the video. I know you were trying to create a controversial title to draw in viewers, but it just makes no sense at all.
@BrianKouhi18 күн бұрын
You're right, the word “creative” is tricky here. I meant more that animating should be approached with an intentional, logical process, instead of just going into a scene and "being creative". Definitely using the term loosely to increase engagement, but the content itself should be helpful.

One of the things I really like about your ship cockpit is how much implied complexity there is. You have kind of Nasa / Commercial airlines button panels, but without nearly as many buttons as real consoles have. It still feels like they're there though. That's something I need to work on with my own stylized works.

Watching this, I can't help but think how easily AI will take over the animating step once the 'acting clip' is provided in productions. Future hot-take: "I'm an animator" will mean 'I do acting for cartoons'.
@BrianKouhi20 күн бұрын
At least right now AI creating anything other than a "rotoscope" animation of your reference isn't possible. Most animation other than mocap (which is also highly edited afterwards), is more cartoony and not 1:1 with the reference. I can't see AI easily making more cartoony animations while also applying all animation principles to keep the animation appealing.
@axlosauro20 күн бұрын
Everything you’re mentioning has creativity involved. Even if you take references and use more logic you can’t take the creative aspect out if it. Nice clickbait tho
@BrianKouhi20 күн бұрын
Haha yeah, it's a bit of a clickbait title, but I wanted to point out the importance of intentional, logical steps in animation. Usually beginner animators just hop into a shot and start "creatively" animating without thinking about it in a more structured way. That was the point of the video.
@cameronedwards75120 күн бұрын
Not sure if I would frame it as "animating shouldn't be creative" because each step you mentioned involves being creative and making creative choices. So many people already don't see 3d animation as art. But I loved the info in the video, I follow a very similar process and it makes a huge difference in my productivity.

Hey Brian, I just learned that if I turn off Edit > Lock Object Modes , I can change between object/pose mode to select the camera by simply clicking on the camera, without the need to use CTRL + TAB to switch modes. You have more experience than me on Blender, I wonder if there is a downside to turning that off. So far it looks pretty neat on my end!

the guy in the video trying blender out of the box first time did much better than most of you guys who can't even delete the default cube or get it running 3-4 months later, keyboard warriors. blender seriously needs a good UI/UX design. many people don't come to it and quit half way is because of the dog crap UI. they find 3ds max's UI more comfortable than this. not hating on blender or anything but it is an actual addressable issue. everything is messy pinups and undockable or non customizable menus or floating menus that show up once only and disappear after adding a primitive. it needs some really great UI work.
