Thanks again for video. It worked for me. Saved 240 £ this year. I called virgin media. Told them I want to get a review of my current contract and see how I can get a better offer. I pay 55 £ a month for 100 Mbs. I didn't have to really negotiate, they proposed straight away same deal for 32 £ a month or 35 £ with 200 Mbs for 18 months. I took the 35 £ deal straight away. So basically saved 240 £ a year and got better speed. Probably would have saved more if I pushed further. I think it's an absolute win. Of course I will get twice the bill when contract expires, but that will be another story. Hope this helps others take care

The best deals are at the start of the month. The staff are penalised if people leave and they lose their bonus. The discretionary discounts are renewed at the start of the month and they have so many of each, so will use them.

I just went back to Virgin media as my signal dropped last Feb,basically they offered compensation but already got rid of BT bogus Fibre @36mbp/s to a new Tv mini-Tv Box packed much like the Firestick I’ve used for 11 years. Basically BT & this lower signal I never noticed until Oct 2022 was astonishing and paying £33 monthly as now last Friday the 26th of October sent after ringing Virgin media on 200mbp/s as the broadband box is like the new tower x-box & a very,very small Tv-box like a external ssd size 4K Tv box on 4K to go with my new Samsung 65” Tv works perfectly. All for a mere £23 per month which is for 18 month due to real underground cable & Wi-Fi but to my Suprise the Ethernet is in the plug for perfect TV,don’t get me wrong although I had only used BT for 5 years it was dire on 2 Lenovos & stick x2 now with this all new 200 package it works so well & set it up myself with push in grabber plugs on each end of the white cables but never ever used landlines just iPhones. Sky are the worst on Tech & price hikes as my neighbours get throttled to death as I daisy chained my old Virgin Router for the sitting room from Ethernet long 10 metre cable “ so simple “ as I did notice the government have made it easy for people on disability’s to allow cheaper prices to Tv mini boxes packed with loads much like most Sky Glass are copying all the same look as Prime by Amazon & Virgin Media as it WORKS and very well on Speedtests as yes talk-talk is owned by BT that people do not realise but think because there phones work across there wares it’s all good ( most of this info was done by Martin Lewis” on Deals we all need in this current climate & my next move by just moving home is my energy for duel fuel and now getting the best deals by Martin Lewis Money Man On Deals That Matter one who knows the whole story on how to get the best for your money,and banking I’m changing to a building Society all down to my dearest wife passing with COVID I’m a single guy now after 30 good years together I need to watch my money by earning interest so with not going out these days and with a Solid broadband for both Lenovos laptop & workstation there is a huge difference by useing m/soft creative tool & iso to have the latest Windows 11,it all matters in saving over £200 odd pounds at the end of the year & dont reccomend anyone to get Sky or BT as BT call it fibre with still a line-in like the 70s with a plug-in Filter on ADSL but cable does not or never fails and if not for Mr Martin Lewis look-up his codes & deals for the best deals all round on the main things we all USE DAILY …. All depends on what products you have with them as I know there were a few big rises on certain packages as of April 1st. I would give them a call and get them to explain but yeah I agree there shouldn’t be rises mid contract but unfortunately all companies seem to do it now 😡

Sorry for delayed response. Depends on what speeds Sky and BT can provide you and also what kind of speed your looking for? Between sky and bt it really comes down to which company you prefer to deal with as they both use open reach anyway so the supply source is the same the only difference at the moment is if your property is eligible BT offer fibre to home which means they can give you speeds all the way up to 900mbps but I have seen that Sky will offer fibre to home soon (delayed due to coronavirus) but I think there max package will be in the region of 250mbps.

@@LiamsTechGuide very well described. Thanks for that. I did order BT but unfortunately on 30th March the engineer did not show up due to Covid 19 situation. However the problem is that the highest speed BT can provide is 50MBps which is a shame. Even though i am with Virgin 350mbps but want to get out of their ecosystem as with them for too long. I know it sounds silly, but want to try some other isp like BT who may upgrade my home in future so that I can get 900MBps

Yeah virgin use a different type of connection over every other brand in the uk as they use a coaxial cable type of connection which means sometimes they are the only ones able to supply the fastest of internets but Openreach are trying to expand there network. You can use this link to check if and when openreach will install full fibre to the cabinet - www.openreach.com/fibre-broadband

I would advise April or 30 days before your contract ends because that is when you can put in your termination request of 30 days, so you have more wiggle room to drive that price down.

I was about to leave Virgin Media for extreme price increase. Month before contract ends I contacted and told them my reason and my max budget for what I need it. Guess what?! Firstly they said they cannot do it much then when I said ok that doesn't suit me and I want leave anyway, in few seconds they change they mind and offered the contract with my terms. Don't be scary of them. Is just pain to get in touch with them because of waiting time can be about an hour. Good luck!

Virgin are notorious for having bad routers which lead to bad Wi-fi, my advice is to put the virgin router in bridge/modem mode and have a separate router connected for all your Wi-fi needs.

Hub 3 or 4? 4 is much better but better to use a third party router and it works flawlessly

No they really don't try bt I was getting a quarter of my contracted broadband speed for months and they refused to send a engineer out unless I paid 70 pounds then I had to pay the fee to escape then and they kept changing the end of contract fee .Gangsters .
