Very well done! We come to Aloha Music Camp twice a year, hiked to La'au on our last visit. We were in awe of the beauty, watching a dozen Hawaiian Monk Seals basking in the sun & playing in the water. The Mana of this place is powerful & we felt what Brother IZ used to call "Hawaiian at Heart". As visitors, we have a responsibility to support the residents of Molokai & help protect this special place from the development that has so drastically changed the other islands. Beautiful video!

YES! Molokai don't need any millionaires and their houses which have already infected Oahu, Maui, Kauai and Hawaii. It has made housing so expensive that none of the locals can afford to live in their own island anymore. Leave Molokai alone. Its beautiful as it is. Go to the other four island if you want the luxury Hawaii lifestyle.

Much respect to the people of Molokai who chose preserving the land over money and the negative impact to their culture. Working within your community I hope you can find ways of offering on a very limited basis and with very low impact, opportunities for environmentally minded visitors/tourists who can help support individual families and local stores. The key is any development must be owned by the community and the locals are the receivers of any profits. It cannot be owned by outsiders or even a few locals, it must be a group ownership. Everyone should benefit for any eco-tourist development or offerings. Best wishes from the mainland in New Jersey.

My mother and grandmother are buried at Ho'olehua and my great grandmother at Kalaupapa. When I go to visit them I want to be in Hawai'i, not a bastardized resort town with a bunch of rich folks who retired to Moloka'i. I hope the politicians and leaders in the state realize the impact that turning La'au into a housing development is going to have on the islands culture. I already live on the main land. Please don't try to turn Moloka'i into something it's not! Keep it Hawaiian. REAL Hawai'i.

What is the status of this plan now? I'm on my honeymoon right now in Molokai and I am absolutely loving it purely because of how quiet it is here. I'm from Mainland America so this is all so new to me. Right when we got here though, I started seeing signs talking about La'au scam and what not and came across this video because I was wondering what it was about. I really hope this doesn't happen. The reason we chose this island is because it isn't a tourist trap like the other islands.

Good mana'o, but "Most Hawaiian Island" not intended to imply that. Its a nickname given to Molokai by, i hate to say it, the visitor industry. Didn't use it for this reason, though. Used it to reinforce the fact that majority of Molokai residents are Hawaiian, an indicator that Hawaiian culture and values prevail here... unlike other islands where non-Hawaiians and outside values now dominate. Sorry if the choice of words bring offense... but it's not the intention. Mahalo!

The aina (island) is not your PROPERTY!!! This is our land that our Kings and Queens rightfully inherited and this land is to be RESPECTED. Not revenue, ROI, and hotels with crowded tourism where you will bring drugs to the forefront,people wanting to move there and it will NOT be in the best interest on the islands or the people. Our people did nothing to anyone to be disturbed of our culture and our daily lives. More importantly, Queen Lili'uokalani signed a treaty & forbade.

Why fight projects that would bring jobs, and economic stability? They were going to build 200 luxury homes as well as normal homes, and designate thousands of acres to never be touched.
