Awesome. They were still coming when I left :)

Yeah. I got there around 12:45. So probably missed the big original flurry of bikers. Bit to icy here first thing. Nearly lost the front wheel when I eventually did set off. With my cruise control not working, I don't know how I managed to get there at all :-)
@michaelwalker11198 жыл бұрын
they put the one hour free parking on the street and only seem to enforce it on Saturday and Sunday. That was the start a few years back. PS were are you supposed to put the ticket?
@MotoGoYo8 жыл бұрын
Normally, the right thing to do would be to encourage two wheels over four and not charge parking. Seems that there is still a snooty feeling about bikers for some folk. No sure what their logic is or what their strategic aim is. Apart from trying to encourage a different type of visitor.
@michaelwalker11198 жыл бұрын
+gadgetsandwheels 1 car with say 2 people, or 5 bikes in the same space = a minimum of 5 or a maximum of 10. Its not hard for them to work out that even 5 will spend more than 2. whats needed is for no bikes to turn up one weekend and see how that goes down.
@MotoGoYo8 жыл бұрын
+Michael Walker Yes, you mean put their theory to the test. I'm guessing it would have to be for several weeks to make an impact but unfortunately it would impact the local businesses much earlier than it would reach the Council.

Watching Feb 2022 to show a mates son why I ride. Fook me @ 2:11 I see myself. A good day was had by all judging from the comments. Riding home via Bakewell / Cat & Fiddle was fun in the snow.

....I've only been there once, during a visit to the Outlaws MCC annual Rock & Blues Rally. I bought a couple of waistcoats from the Biker's Gearbox, and walked up the line of parked bikes too as it's always interesting looking at other folk's rides. Is this what the council is whinge-ing about - bikes parked up at the roadside for free?
@MotoGoYo8 жыл бұрын
+Steve'sHornet900! I believe that's what they are on about yeah. Though my research was paper thin so not really that sure if honest :-)

Do it and don,t take any notice what some people say or do!! the youth has to come through also otherwise there will be no more bikers.

I didn't know there were that many bikes on UK roads!
@MotoGoYo8 жыл бұрын
It certainly makes you wonder. There musty have been a fair few £ on that stretch of road on Sunday last week. An average value of say £6k each x 4000 bikes = £24m!

I can't help but think the rev bombing doesn't really help the cause. It's probably because of that that some people just get frustrated with bikers, and then try and bully them out of their town. That said it's nice to see you can fit anywhere between 3 to 4 bikes in the same space ass an average car would take up.
@MotoGoYo8 жыл бұрын
Yeah. It only happened once while I was there out of thousands of bikers. Though I take your point.

Looks like a great event unfortunately I couldn't be there due to distance issues - LOL, did the new parking cost for bikers get overturned?

That's no excuse :-). I think they are thinking about it all.

Thanks. Woulda been better with a stabiliser on such a cold day :-). The problem when I go to these things and I almost constantly take footage, I see nearly everything through a tiny screen so I didn't spot anyone there I knew or knew of :-). I'll have a look at your videos soon.

I only used a GoPro. Bought a couple of cameras with me, and tripod, but left the bloody quick release plate at home. Bad move, so just stuck with the gopro.

Been riding to Matlock Bath since riding my first bike (FS1E) from 1976. Ride through it almost every week now since retiring on my current bike collection. The council are just greedy bastards and see bikers as a cash cow.

G'day..., Hmmn, interesting, I was raised to believe that in Britain, the Bath was used as a place to store Coal, so they generally only wash once per year (lol) ; I never would have dreamed that so many Motorcyclists all went to the same place, Matlock Bath, to complete their ablutions...(!). Surely, such a "Show of Force" merely confirms Council in their assumption that Demand is both high & relatively inelastic, so they can sting the Bikers a Parking-Fee & they'll grumble ; but they're mostly creatures of habit, being mainly Grey Nomads, so they'll pay as they whinge, but they won't quit coming. If the Rally was go off to some other place, 5 miles away or so away, which offered free parking, with a Public Oath-Swearing of massed Bikies vowing never to bathe in Matlock again, until they reinstate Free Parking outside their "Bathhouse"...; then the Chamber Of Commerce would nobble that pesky Councillor...(?). ;-p Ciao !
@MotoGoYo8 жыл бұрын
Like many things, these traditional habits are formed over many years. Money being the God of all things will rule ultimately. I think I will write to the Council suggesting they seek to twin with Glenn Innes and adopt some of their successful promotional opportunities. 😏

***** ABSOLUTELY ! Tell them to decorate the place with Land-Rights Flags and they can rebrand Matlock Bath as "Celtic Aboriginal Country"...! ;-p Ciao !
