Save money towing with Diesel? 6.6L Duramax & 3.0 Baby Duramax compared to my Tundra

I spent $9,300 on gasoline for my Tundra last year. I tow a lot of miles. Is it better to look at a 3.0 Duramax GMC or Chevrolet with the max towing package? Or should I go to 2500 AT4 6.6L Duramax.
