Podocarpus are one of my all time favorite plants. Unfortunately, without proper care in the early months and years of planting them they can brown and die. They need full sun and plenty of water with adequate draining. Their browning can be for a few reasons according to my landscaper who is a certified horticulturalist: 1) too much water, 2) too little water, 3) diseased.
If your branches are browning one or two at a time, from the tips down, we can help you! It's as easy as cutting off the dried out, browning branches to give the healthy branches a chance to continue growing.
Sticking your finger into the soil can tell you if it's too dry. If you feel dusty, dried out dirt and soil, you likely need more water. You can dig them up and soak them in a 5 gallon bucket of water for a few hours before drying them off a bit and re-planting them.
