I like the door, the knocker and the mail slot they are very nice but I think it would look cleaner and more classic without the hammered piece around the door knob. Love your channel

Wow! The knocker and letterbox!! Am speechless. I used to work for a woman who had a brass plate, knocked, knob and letterbox which was cleaned every week - I know because I was the one who cleaned it! She had brass stair rods and fireplace fenders which was cleaned less often - probably because they were indoors and tarnished slowly compared to that outside.

Hello Sophia. Greetings from Australia. Your Dickensian style door knocker might be styled on the shape of a Grecian urn originally. Also, it is possible to seal your polished brass with a lacquer coating to save repeated polishing. Well done, the door looks lovely.

Great job with the door. Just thought I'd give you a tip that I always use on all my "outside" doors. On the strike plate, you know the part on the door facing, change the screws to dry wall screws. You remove the little short screws that comes with the strike plate & put in dry wall screws instead and that makes it so your front door can't be kicked in. Im not able to guarantee this, but I learned it on This Old House years ago and have done it ever since. Anyway, just thought I'd share that with you. 😊

We moved into this house 2 years ago and one of the first things I did was change ALL the doorknobs inside and outside the house (there were about 15 of them). You'd be very proud of me. I power washed the deck this past weekend and started scraping the paint between the boards. It's currently painted (bad move previous owner). Next, is getting the big orbital sander from Home Depot and then staining. Will be very happy when this paint is gone. :-)

Sofia, all three of my boys was born on the 21st. Feb 21 April 21 & May 21. ☺️ I loved the way the door looks. I need to paint mine & put my bead bolts in. My problem is I have to make the holes for the lock and I have no clue how to even start. My husbands says he will do it but he's been saying that for twenty years now. Lol
