I've seen people reuse old tires as raised gardens, they'll stack a few on top of each other, paint the outside and put flowers or vegetables inside, looks so cute. Growing up, my Mom would use printed flat bed sheets for light weight bedspreads, just get one size larger than the bed, we lived in Az and it's crazy Hot there most of the year. Have also used them as cute curtains, table cloths and for picnics. I love reusing , recycling, and reducing. It's amazing how little trash you have when you do. My older Brother and his Wife had an old iron bed frame and made it into a flower bed , cutest thing ever. Loved your video, Always get a Kick out of seeing your place....it's SO AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL....You and Your Honey have done such a WONDERFUL job ....It's Kind of Magical, sort of like a Disney Fairy Garden....a Piece of HEAVEN !! Thank You So Much for Sharing . GOD BLESS !! Sending you LOTS of HUGS !! Sheila in Az.

The oddest thing that I ever used for a planter(s), was 2 plastic type bumpers that were off of a vehicle, my hubby brought them home and we're making planters out of them! It works! Recycling is one of my favorite things to do....my hubby too, he's so ingenious! :) It's Spring! Make it beautiful! You're awesome Tessie! Have a wonderful day out there! That is such a creative idea & love it has drainage holes!! You have the best ideas. I love to reuse things. When taking mom out around a little part of our neighborhood we find so many things. We just found a bunch of flower pots & a couple of hanging ones too. Just about everything in the front part of our house by the door and around the wheelchair ramp we found. Watering cans, tables, plants, chairs, trellis, shepherd’s hooks, plant stands etc. it is amazing what people throw out. We just found 3 purses, 2 iPhone cases, a cordless house phone & it works & is the same brand we have, 2 pairs of sneakers, clothes - I had to keep going back to the house to drop things off, I couldn’t carry it all and push the wheelchair too. Lol. We look a site sometimes. But I have fun. Mom doesn’t quite understand it all. (She’s 92 & has dementia). When I’m asked where I got something I tell them oh at the little exquisite side of the road boutique. I get funny looks and they ask where that is. I say well it changes locations all the time & you just have to go look for it cause you never know where it will be next. Lol. Things we can’t use we donate. We do what we can to make the best out of situations that are not always so good. I didn’t start out looking for stuff I started taking mom out because she couldn’t do the things she used to & then we started finding things & it just snowballed from there. Sometimes the answer to what we need to do is in our own backyard or neighborhood. Tessie I have learned so much from you. I never even noticed you have any speech problem. You are such a precious woman of God. Thank you. This isn’t the best song but it’s to the Sound of Music My Favorite Things tune. Raindrops on herb plants And seeds to be planted. Tilling and journals and canning and prepping. Cooking and cleaning and crafting all day. These are a few of my favorite things. When the flu strikes. When the stores close. And there’s no TP. I simply remember it’s 7 o’clock and Tessie is on again. Will have to try and come up with some more verses! God bless you and everyone.

I love thinking outside the box and getting ideas from others. I guess I now know what I will be using my Weber for once it is not longer needed for grilling on. I am in the process of learning to become a zero waste household. It is definitely a challenge in some ways. Any and all ideas you have regarding how to do that are most welcome. So far, I have begun composting and I have a burn barrel...and of course, I recycle and reuse anything I can. I enjoy your videos tremendously as they are so informative and I love that you demonstrate and show what you do and how so.

I did the same thing, Tessie, just the other day. Made a planter out of a discarded grill top. I’m running out of pots, so I ordered some of those black grow bags from Amazon. Inexpensive and hold a lot of soil. They’re not center stage on my deck, though, not very pretty. But soon everything will be green and growing! Take care.💕

I reuse a lot, tin cans and jars most of the times :) And I agree, you don't have a large garden to be productive. My garden is perhaps one tenth of an acre. But I still manage to get a lot of food and fruit from it, just by doing the same thing as you said, keep in mind what vegetables are for the spring, summer and fall. And ofcourse by how much they produce and the ammount of space they take (it is one of the reasons why I plant pole beans). I know people with a square feeth garden and they are doing amazing stuff with it.

Theo I save and reuse all glass jars as well as metal cans:) My modest garden in my back yard I can grow most veggies this year I am growing tomato plants and very soon I'll be planting radishes and herbs:) I also plant in pots:)
@xXTheoLinuxXx
@xXTheoLinuxXx 4 жыл бұрын
@@owen4248 those cans and jars are always handy :) This year I have a lot more herbs than the other years. I grow them in containers. The tomatoes have to wait another day before I put them outside. In the Netherlands it is a kind of oldfashion wisdom to do that (and planting beans aswel) after the 'Ice Saints'. After those days the chance of night frost is extremly low. Under the poles where I plant my beans there are now some lettuce plants and radish, but those would be ready before the beans plants are becoming big plants :) With tricks like that you can get a very decent ammount of veggies, and nothing beats homegrown :)

Love the recycled planter. 👍😀. What a great idea! The family across the street drive us nuts. They throw out perfectly good stuff, don't even donate it! 😵 This week they had one of those huge containers delivered. (like those used when you're having a new roof put on) All week they busted up furniture and threw no longer wanted items into the bin. So wasteful! If it ever hits the fan, that family is going to be in Big trouble. We're into repairing, reusing and repurposing. God bless.

It really is amazing what can be accomplished on a small piece of property. My grandparents live in the center of a little unincorporated town with no covenants, been there for probably 60 years. They also have other properties for hay farming, but on their main property, they have done so much. They own around 75% of a city block. She has around 20 chickens, a horse, cows, a garden with an apple and plum orchard, a large rhubarb patch, a long row of rabbit hutches (probably 15 cages with at least one rabbit in each), ducks, geese, and a herd of goats. She has it broken up into different pastures to rotate the animals or move them if they need separating. Not to mention they have an old brick farmhouse they have added on to twice as they had the money (they've been debt free for a long time), with a 2 car garage attached to the house. She has a hay/ milking barn that used to be an old single-room schoolhouse that they moved onto the property. There are a couple other sheds as well. It's all about making the best use of space you can and being efficient and well thought out. My gram is 80 years old and still going strong. Doing chores every day has kept her moving and in good shape, not to mention the health benefits of growing and raising your own food and drinking goat milk every day. Their house is kind of a tourist attraction since its unusual to see a whole farm in town. People get out and take pictures or pet the animals over the fence.

Hi Tessie sis. 🌞 Love the repurposing videos! Back home in Upstate New York we used to find a lot of good things that people had discarded. Nothing here. 😰 The new planters are so cool! Great idea. I love to repurpose things. I found a few things here at mom's that I'm going to use for planting, 🥕🥔🥒

Not thought about this but cool idea. I do have a kiddie pool ive planted bell pepper seeds in but told germinate from 8 days to 2 months depending on some different factors and types of peppers. Mine hasnt come up yet. Hope it will. I like you turn what you have into other things. if i can...i do too. You sure are getting a lot done planting and all. Im doin containers for now cause too many vole and mole problems.
