Only stumbled across this video recently, and it gave me another idea. Instead of a stove jack in the tarp, we have the stove at the edge of the tarp with the chimney outside of it, or a small firepit set up just outside the tarp. With an almost identical windblock behind it, and a conventional windbreak to shield us from the wind, it makes an excellent sheltered outdoor seating area for the colder nights. Thanks for the inspiration.

I suppose you could use the One Tigris hammock tent with stove jacks already fitted . But use the tent as an tarp with your sleeping tent . With the sides it would be stable in the wet and wind .

Necessity is the mother of invention. Excellent. I reckon a silver-faced tarp would reflect more heat back into the space - much like the stove reflector has.

Interesting. Something I've been wondering about is this: Is there a way to replace the stove and stovepipe with some sort of shroud with a spark arrestor? That is, say build a normal camp fire, then place the shroud over it with a spark arrestor or metal screen on top, to have basically a sparkless campfire? To me, this would be an advantage because it would increase the safety to prevent forrest fires in the case of just having a campfire away from the tent, or it might even open up some uses with special tarp setups.

Dependant on your tent a Vango gear store makes a nice additional area for cooking in, no idea about trying to fit a stove in there though. For me I opted for the 2 tent approach, a cheap hot tent for a warm area & a small 1 person tent for sleeping in.

Interesting set up. Has anyone ever used or purchased a decent motorbike tent. I've seen one or two where you can have the bike in the center with two sleeping compartments either side. Used to place a tarp over the bike to our tent, had the bike get pulled over on a bad night as there had been mud made a bog by the torrential rain and wind. Thankfully wasn't sleeping next to the bike as friends had suggested. Looking for ideas for the TT next year 🙏

We are happy this video popped up in suggestions. We watched and enjoyed your style of presentation. We will not need the ideas in the lowlands of the Philippines where we live. North of our home base, in the mountains of Baguio, it can get "frosty." A little heat for the tent would be appreciated. We also plan to take our young troops on a vacation where they may experience snow and winter activities. There will be a time and place to practice what we observed today. You have certainly earned a subscriber. Now off to whack that SUB button.

Tarp + tent is akin to belt + suspenders. Try a tarp with a long lay fire in front for warmth and cooking and forgo the unnecessary weight and claustrophobia of a tent.
