These live edge book ends were destined for the fire pit, but I was able to save them and make something useful. I love using scraps and when they turn into something great like these live edge book ends, even better!

Nice! I really dig the industrial look of the pipe with the natural look of the wood.

Thanks! That something a bit different for me. I usually see industrial stuff with en, sleek lines. Mixing the natural and industrial appealed to me.

Very cool. Definitely inspired me to use my scraps more efficiently although having a campfire with the kids is probably a pretty effective use as well.

Really cool project and video - and I'm not just saying that because of the X-Acto shoutout haha! I love the way the organic shape of the wood contrasts with the pipes...super cool look!

These turned out looking pretty cool! I like the character in the burls mixed with the industrial style of the piping! I have a question though… Using brown paper bag to the nibs the lacquer is a good idea, but does it change the sheen of the finish? Did you have to reapply afterward, or was it good to go afterward?
@BruceAUlrich
@BruceAUlrich 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! It does burnish them a little to use brown paper bag. However, I sprayed one very light coat on top after using it and then just barely use the paper where needed at the end. It didn't seem to make it very shiny at all. This was not flat to begin with, but rather satin, so it had just a little shine anyway.
