I can only think of one resource that the Wasteland Biome is good for: landmines. Once you have The Infiltrator perk you can collect a lot of landmines in the Wasteland, if you want to risk all the hazards.

The wasteland biome is also good for finding lots of broken down cars which you can take apart and get things like brass radiators which can be smelted down and used to make bullets. I remember in my playthrough of 7 days to die (it was a random gen world) I went to the wasteland biome and searched one of the abandoned cars and found a level 6 steel pickaxe then a while later I found a level 6 auger. I think the wasteland is a good place to visit if you want higher tier tools and weapons as well brass radiators from the scattered cars all around. I hope this helps whoever reads this.

A20 is supposed to add a new biome system that will give players a reason to go into the harder more dangerous biomes by finding better higher quality loot in those biomes

Yup. It's an interesting answer to the complaints about loot being locked to game stage and not being able to get good loot earlier in the game.

The wasteland biome is the best place to find iron as the ground deposits are so plentiful. You can also get coal from the trees, AFAIK.

I love the burnt biome because it's fairly centralised with all the other biomes. Going to and from the desert when you're in the snow is time consuming and tedious.

The wasteland is useful for the higher lootstage. Build your horde base just inside the edge of the wasteland, get better loot from the zombie drops!

I use the snow biome to hunt for meat. About 20 minutes in the biome nets me like 300+ meat with just an AK. Selling the extra leather also nets a few thousand Dukes, so the snow biome's also got that going for it.

I am so happy A20 is adding loot multipliers for biome difficulty. It will add so much more playability to all the biomes (an actual reason to enter the wasteland other than the trader's sick sense of humor lmao)

Oh yeah the landmines are everywhere in the wasteland! They can be very hard to see. I can't even count how many times they've taken me out on console!

In addition to the desert biome, yeah trees are kinda sparse to start, but you can plant the seeds you get and within a few days have your own personal grove of lumber for all your needs. I kinda wish it was still likely to randomly start in the desert biome. In all my games ive started its forest like 90% of the time, and burnt forest the rest. Ive never started a game in wasteland desert or snow. Speaking of the wasteland, on the plus side, there is that one book that means you wont set off landmines stepping on them so that removes the random instant death thing. But otherwise, yeah, its an ugly pointless place to go to. I dont even know if it has unique pois to raid. The angry animals arent even EDIBLE! Its all zombie animals. At least you can EAT the angry animals in the snow biome. Speaking of snow, thats honestly to me the most deadly biome worth being in. Its probably the best challenge biome to be in because its hard, but it can be worth it. The zombies are annoying but not too bad unless you are going for max difficulty and/or speed. The animals are really dangerous but at least its a source of materials to work with. Food, bones, leather, etc. And you can adapt to the cold with the right effort or skills. Oh, and plenty of murky water. :p Not that valuable outside the first week or so, but nice and useful before then. Not every random map has a lot of water sources to find. Heck, I tend to fill my bottles at backyard pools or water towers than in rivers or lakes. So digging up some snow? Yeah, that works. And at least the bears and wolves are easily spotted. Those lions are sneaky buggers though.

There use to be a plains biome as well as a pine forest I think, that was periodically snowy.

if you turn on god mode and go into the irradiated zone and just keep going, what happens? does it just end up at an invisible barrier? does the map start going all bad quality lacking detail like in Fallout 4 if you manage to go outside the invisible walled boundary? Do you just fall off the edge of the world? Are there pots of gold and Leprechauns? Do you get a message that says "you have reached level 2 and it loads a new world to explore? does it go on forever?

I'd love to just head over to the wasteland biome for hunting some of the stronger enemies for xp but the landmines make it far too tedious to bother with or even travel through due to either having to do it on foot slowly or risk damaging a vehicle blowing through it Maybe fortresses with high level loot and landmines on the inside and around the outside would be a preferable alternative?

Yeah I try to avoid the Wasteland Biome if at all possible. It currently has no upside. That is likely to change in future alphas, however.

first time i played I spawned in the burnt forest biome...idk how I didnt get killed right away but zombie crawlers were a pain i got infected day one however and dropped that game and restarted..My second spawn put me right at the edge of the snow biome just inside the forest biome I could literally walk into the next biome and see the snow so weird..you would think lowering the dfficulty would get you a better spawn point especially for a beginner but no such luck for me :(...at least it wasnt the wastland biome

Deeply offended for not a word about the hail storms in the snow biome, it reduces your line of sight to zero, and it is pretty common to be in front of bears and mountain lions and just realized when it is too late. 😕

It is in Alpha 20. You get a Loot Stage multiplier in the Wasteland. That didn't exist in A19.

i got to level 188 without using guns, bombs, making oil, using electrical stuff & traps, i still dont even know how to make fuel out of oil shale but i had like 200,000 fuel stored up by the end of the game just from scrapping cars, so i cant see the point in even mining shale unless ur with many people on the server or playing the same server for long after all the cars are gone.. also i never made any healing, i just take the regeneration perks & the take less damage perk.. i hardly ever even carried healing on me.. i also take the parkour perks to lessen chance of broken legs... id say resources are too abundant in the game.. the only thing i struggled with is food... even clothing, i never bother to change my clothing... hot or cold i notice no problems ever in the game other than when being cold and using up more food...

I know this is a question for a different video but with the art of mining book that lets you get rare gemstones from mining would you be able to get them from stone since I haven't had the time to actually check myself but with you being essentially a better wiki then wiki do you know if you could get like gold nuggets from stone sorry if its stupid question but google hasn't helped me one bit
