How will the new FAFSA value income vs wealth? For example would it be good to payoff a mortgage to lower wealth. If someone has 200k liquid savings, and has a family income of $120K. would it make sense to payoff $50k balance of a 2.25% rate mortgage? Then put the monthly mortgage payment towards college.
