I too noticed how well the vacuum lifted the pile of the carpet. I used to have a similar one years ago. Should have kept it. I see you think like a collector. Good for you. That carpet must be the cleanest on the block. Thanks for the videos.

Nice Convertible U4349 in Jamaican Blue & Oyster White; manufactured from c.1982-85. Try checking with an auto parts dealer or fabrics store to see what they have for repairing vinyl.

I've got the same one, only mine still has its original 11 blade fan and the brush roll has the original black bristle (softer bristles) brush strips. Great vacuum though, although I still prefer using the Elite's (despite their loud noise) a bit better.

The original Hoover's like these were the best!! The new machines aren't nearly as good af quality and will not last nearly as long!!

I cleaned some debris wrapped around the center pin and figured that would solve the problem. However, when I turned on the vac (without the brush installed) to check, the motor hummed and the wheel did not spin. Any ideas?

Sounds like the fan is jammed. Check for any obstructions

It spins quite easily by hand. I don't know how to get a closer look at the motor or any other moving parts. @@hanksgarage_
