I was lucky when I found my kingsnake egg bound, there was nothing twisted or out of order. I didn't even know they were female, as they were just a pet I'd had for 18 years with no eggs ever produced. I never brumated her before, but I moved at winter time from Nevada to Texas. That was all she needed to give me eggs. Now she is 23 years old and has a tumor that was slow growing, but is now getting huge to the point her scales are stretched out. It looks like she swallowed a chicken egg. I make sure she poops before I feed her, and I'm feeding her smaller meals. I would be surprised if she makes it to December.

These are my favorite videos. So much valuable information. I was a Vet Tech years ago so I want to say that, if you’ve never done this before, don’t do it. Kevin knows what he’s feeling as far as the anatomy of the snake. If you don’t have the experience it’s very easy to fatally injure the animal. Use an exotic veterinarian who has reptile experience. Many “exotic” vets take care of rabbits, gerbils, etc, and don’t know much about reptiles.

Kevin is more knowledgeable about reptiles than *_every_* "exotic vet" I've been to in my state 💯 (WA state) All our "exotic vets" advertise as specializing in _ferrets, guinea pigs, parrots, etc_ (with most making the distinction they are *not* livestock vets which is a 3rd separate specialty) But excluding birds, I feel like those small mammals easily could/should be left to the regular cat/dog vets 🤔 But I digress... The point is, I'd take a sick reptile to Kevin over an _exotic vet_ *100%* of the time and be *way more comfortable* that my beloved animal is in good hands 💯👍

That's my fear with my parrots. I have a budgie that stays constantly in season. She's just turned 3 years old and she's trying to nest now. I'm scared she will start laying eggs and become egg bound.

While that snake may survive this ordeal, and it likely would not have without intervention, the end of the video clearly shows the oviduct prolapsing with the egg, and then rupturing to deliver the egg, not through the natural opening. Hope you don't plan on breeding this girl again... A good herp vet might have been able to save her reproductive potential, and certainly would have been more humane than ripping organs out of a fully awake animal.
