Every once in a blue moon we'll have a hen that gets egg bound. There are a lot of different tricks to try, but eventually, you have to try to manipulate the opening of the oviduct and try to lubricate, reposition, and possibly extract the egg for her. I always HATE doing it, but it saves their lives, and most of them go on with no sign there was ever trauma in their reproductive tract.

We use chlorhexadine in the operating room. It can continue bactericidal action for up to 72 hours so it’s a great hand cleanser and some ob/gyns use it for prep in their cases. Good to see you using sound medicine to keep your animals healthy.

Me I couldn’t I am terrified of most animals, dogs, cats, snakes. Okay maybe not the cats, but they are definitely up to something. But I think that being able to treat your pets or livestock well, then you probably shouldn’t be in that position. Actually putting your fingers to your whole arm inside of animals, happens more then you would think. This is what people who care about their animals will do to keep them well. WOW !! I never realized we have a similar history !! DEC has been visiting me for years begging me to apply for my license to do snake rehab and rescues and as much as I hated to I couldn't because I knew I would want to keep each snake and I've got tons of empathy for any unfortunate animal especially snakes and I was a nurse for 23 years but ended up with a degree in system security and computer programming on my journey to learn even more :)

She must have felt so much relief after that. My boa, Sophie, once struck her door and got her "lip" stuck on her teeth, and my mom and I worked together to fix it and to get a disconnected tooth stuck in her lip out. No abscesses or infections, thankfully. But at first she was so mad, then once she realized what we were doing she froze and let it happen, much like your blood python here. After that experience Sophie has been super chill about me checking her tail and mouth. Snakes are creatures of logic.

I’m a nurse, so it always impresses me to see your knowledge of the meds and animal anatomy. Most of all though, your empathy towards all living things. One question though, and I’m asking with the utmost respect….why no gloves?? I know hands can be washed, but dang that’s a lot of nasty stuff that I just wouldn’t want to touch 😂. Also, fingernails could cause trauma when you’re digging around in there too, no?

Props for converting units to kilograms. It guarantees consistent accuracy, especially when using milligrams and micrograms. It also greatly decreases the chances of overdosing due to error in converting doses from kg to lbs.

Wow! I learned so much i had no clue about in this video when it comes to how the snakes store then release the eggs in their bodies. This is the kind of stuff you probably wouldn't see unless you were dealing with snakes professionally. I think it gives people better insight as to what they may be asking their pets to deal with when the breed. So True Kevin !!! Our experiences be it good ones or failed ones are indeed our best teachers as each reptile is an individual and should be cared for accordingly :o) I always give my snakes full credit for all that I've learned as they were in fact my true teachers :) I've always been like a sponge and can't learn enough about snakes so I constantly strive to learn something new each day so these videos are absolutely great content and another positive step in learning and thank you for taking the time to teach others !! I'm SO GLAD to see my awesome friend Jeremy there working with you and having the benefit of learning more from you and I recently discussed my plans with him to visit you both there this summer. Cleaning all of that out of the snake also greatly reduces the risk of infection to the snake I would assume ! ?
