+thegangvault2 Truth has a way of permeating even the most galvanized of ideologies. It slaps in the face and stings temporarily, but re-directs focus and nurtures new energy. The fact that the last 20 years has seen the proliferation of the internet to the far reaches of the planet means that corporate hegemony, and quacky religions have about 10 more years tops before the leaders of even the least progressive and backward countries will have to deal with at least partially educated electorates. Good bye religion within 10 years, not because it was legislated to go away, but because no one will subscribe to it in mass numbers any longer...this has already happened in Europe. Jesus and Mohammad will meet Jupiter and Zeus in the annals of historical deities all of whom were assassinated by reality. It will be more difficult to get rid of monopolists like Bill Gates, and the multinational orgs they think deserve our respect; but once the public realizes there are other options to slavery, the hegemonists will be forced to adapt or be removed by force.

At first I thought you were as communist as they come ... but then I read a bit more. Interesting to get your opinion! I'm not from the US, but from what I've read, neither party represents the American people. Since I'm writing in 2020, I must say Biden might do a good job - time will tell. Thanks for your opinion!!!

If I understood it correctly, what we must do is reform the rules of free market to favour the majority, leading to lower living costs, and thus more pocket money and less welfare. This sound good only if the rules just break oligopoly and create competition instead of punishing specific corporation, because we still want them to survive, especially local one.

I'm going to repost this because it appears that my original post has been deleted. "Something that occurs to me, most of us, myself included, think that the government is corrupt because of the super rich and big corporations buying candidates. I just googled the current US population, which is 331 million. I just wonder, if each of us contributed $1, could we buy our government back? Or, at least, some of the politicians in it? Maybe start a "movement" in the right direction?"

@tonyreimer68044 жыл бұрын
100%. Barriers of entry are a massive problem in competition, innovation and contribute further to inequality. If you don’t have the capital to start a business, or the familial or relational connections to people with capital, it doesn’t really matter how good your idea is. This is true for someone who cooks good food and wants to start a food truck, or a potential technological innovator or inventor. When you add in the inequities in education and poverty, we are potentially missing out on huge societal gains by not tapping the best resource we have: people.

I wish Economics (and economists) were taken as serious as other sciences; bio, physics etc. People think its intuitive, demean any results that come out of studies simply because their gut drops after hearing something they emotionally believe so hard. My economics advisor once told me that he shouldve been a computer science major; wouldve made less money but wouldve been a whole lot happier lol
@zeev5 жыл бұрын
there is no science of human behavior as a hard science. to the extent people 'want' economics to be perceived as a 'hard' science it is because they want to oversimplify the study of human behavior which is undeniable a messy thing, and no where near even as messy as humans and human behavior itself, one of the most complex things in the universe ( according to Einstein himself a greater mystery than the universe it that the universe can perceive itself....that we exist and perceive.)
