At best I think what Subaru what thinking if he was thinking along those lines is that we can deal with this prick together. As it is Subaru probably thinks that rein is the best chance anyone has of getting through the pricks hacks.

An important detail that was excluded from the anime is that before Subaru arrived in the world, Kurgan was murdered by Regulus. Regulus invaded a fortress in the Empire, killing everyone who violated his rights, which included Garfiel's new foe, Kurgan. The author was asked how Regulus could defeat him, and he replied that fighting Regulus for him would be like trying to beat a metal Mario with no time limit. Making victory against Regulus is impossible for someone like him.

Subaru does not have any divine protections. Only 1% of people have them, and Subaru is not among them. He has multiple witch factors, though, and witch factors are far more powerful than divine protections. Also, I think it is impossible to have both a divine protection and a witch factor at the same time. So it is a good thing he does not have any.

Yeah, the thing is Subaru has actually seen Reinhard fail several times and knows he's not the monstrous perfect being everyone else sees him as. He failed to kill Elsa and he failed in the fight against Wrath in a previous loop. When he bisected her thus also bisecting everyone else.

Subaru doesn’t have any Divine Protections because in the world of rezero, someone has to be born with one, which is quite rare, and even more rare if you are born with more than one but if someone with a divine protection gains an Authority, they would lose all their divine protections (Authorites >>>> DP) So even if Subaru was given a DP somehow at the beginning of the story, he would’ve lost it immediately due to having Return by Death (an Authority)

They've built up Regulus to be this impossible wall of a villain to overcome, just to put him against Reinhard, setting up what's be the most epic clash in the entire series. Nobody has been able to push either of these two inhuman entities back before and now it's time for them to push each other and watch the spectacle unfold 🔥

Reinhard doesn't get divine protections willy nilly, per se - he basically phones Od Laguna, the source/well of all mana and souls and stuff, and asks for a new divine protection. And he gets it. Also, as far as I know, Subaru doesn't have any divine protections. What he DOES have at this point is 2 Authorities, which is actually kinda crazy when you think about it.

So some facts about the episode ^^ Subaru does not have a Blessing. Blessings and Authorities are exclusive you cannot have both. And since Subaru uses both the authority of rbd AND sloth now he could not have a blessing. Also blessings are given to people at birth. You are born with them and cannot gain them later besides the sword god blessing or if your name is reinhard. Subaru was not born in this world so he couldnt have a blessing In this episode it is finally revealed just how stupidly OP reinhard is. He can basically simply wish for a blessing and he can "download" it :D Also the conversation with Subaru is huge for Reinhard. He is the strongest being in this world and he and everyone knows it. The burden and expectations on his shoulders are insane and he feels crushed by it every day (he even said it in arc1) So for someone to not just dump their expectations on him and let him handle things but to say buddy i got you and i will support you with the things you are lacking is such a huge change compared to everyone expecting him to never do mistakes and fix everything by himself Basically subaru here treats Reinhard like a human and friend and "allows" mistakes and not like everyone else expects him to be this perfect hero. Its such a small detail but the weight that has to be dropped from reinhards mind when finally someone says its okay to not be perfect i got you.

Subaru doesn’t have a divine protection so even if reinhard looked at him, he wouldn’t see anything. also i just wanna mention that authorities will always be more powerful than divine protections, it’s why liliana’s singing with her telepathy divine protection didn’t have a permanent effect on the citizens! it was subaru’s speech that cleared their heads and made the panicked and distressed citizens (they were all panicky cuz of wrath’s authority) more connected with each other. so authority will always win over a divine protection, and i’m pretty sure an authority user (like a witch or archbishop) would never have a divine protection, cuz witch factors are the anti-thesis of od laguna (od laguna being the core of the world and the thing that gives divine protections)! so having an authority and a divine protection would just be a contradiction as they’re polar opposites

At this point, I'm only hoping that "The person [She] will love, Someday" actually is Subaru. I'm going to be so fucking pissed off if they actually just wrote Emilia to be this sheltered, emotionally stunted and immature girl that has rendered this story Romantically inert since arc 4, and that Subaru has devoted himself to for 9 whole arcs (so far), only to end up writing her to be in love with Reinhard or fuckin' Otto or something. It'd be like episode 18 x 1 billion, and I will ensure the riots that ensue are equivalent to that scale. I can understand why Rem fans are mad after all this time, but after this arc all the "romantic" subplots in this story just go on hiatus, so Rem wasn't even the only one getting "fridged".
