Isn't it though? Seems like yesterday. Hard to believe little Matt Damon is 51! All of those kids whose films we watched when they got their big breaks are nearing grand parentage now! Yikes! I'm older than Tom! Ahhhhhh! Scary!

It's great to see these guys after not seeing them in a long time. Wow. I wish them the best. I will never forget when I watched this film, at the theaters with my dad, when I was a kid in 1998.
@infledermaus2 жыл бұрын
I watched it with my brother (in his late 40s or early 50s then) ex-Army helo pilot. The whole time we sat in the theater, I watched him more than the movie because he was afraid he'd have a PTSD episode which set me on edge. I checked on him repeatedly, asking how he was doing. He got through it okay though.

Cool video. Perennial youth Matt Damon is 51! OMG! Well, I aged, too, you know. I was 6 when the movie came out and now I'm 97! Giovanni Ribisi was just 24!?!? Wow. He was the baby of the cast. I hated it when he died in the film. His character was such a caring soul. I'll have to look again, but did you include the guy that played der Wehrmachtssoldat that Upham kills at the end? Aside from Cpt. Miller & Pvt. Ryan, my fav characters in order. 1.Pvt. Jackson. Though being left handed, he manage to be the badass sniper on the movie with that M1903A4. At the same time, with pure soul reciting prayers phrases while shooting the enemies. (1 mile with clear line of sight, pack your bags fellas. War is over. Amen!). He also choose to warn his comrades to get down even facing death during the bell tower bombing scene. A very heroic ending. 2. Pvt. Rieben That browning auto-rifle just fits to him. Being a gray character, always complaining then turn to one of the best man in the movie. But, he always have a point on his gripes. Although Sgt. Horvath & Rieben dont like each other., there area later scenes that they are agreeing with each other. Also being Rieben in the Rabbit (a bait) and not complaing showing he just understant his duty before the movie ends. Also manage to deliver a good gun fight before the movie ends. You can see him with his M1918A2 machine gun & Sgt. Horvath as well was given more screentime at the final battle. That makes his memorable appearance on movie. 3. Sgt. Horvath. I just seing myself on him. Loyal to his sup. Always steping up when needed. Maybe he just to big for that M1 carbine one of the best scene of him is when he fires that bazooka on a light tank during the final battle, Just a badass soldier. I always love the conversation between him & Capt. Miller. The best for me is when he share his opinion to Capt. Miller when Pvt. Ryan choose to stay. 4. Cpl. Henderson Hes not one of the main guys but he portray a good leadership even he's a Corporal. In addition to his sence of humor. (i tell you what, if your our support I will file complain - to Miller; Parker job opportunity - when 30 cal need to set on bell tower). Just felt sad to his death along with Pvt. Mellish. They both did a great job holding their ground even short handed. 5. Pvt. Caparzo I hope we was give more screentime. But dying because of being a himanitarian trying to save a child is one of the best of his character. Even dying, he manage to pass his letter to his comrades. 6. Medic Wade One of the soldier with purest souls. His death breaks my heart the most. Him, Jackson & Melish. One of his best is when his comrades collect dog tags of fallen airborne soldires then telling his team, "the whole airborne is watching!" Always show compassion to others. Best fit as a team Medic. 7. Capt. Hammil. Like Cpl. Henderson, he also has a less screentime but manage to portray a good compasionate leader to his soildiers. His 3 major scenes are when he saves Capt. Miller team in german standoff. When he consoling the Minnesota (mistaken) Pvt. Ryan and when he told Miller. "Good luck! I mean it. Find him, get him home!" Giving extra motivation to Capt. Miller. 8. Pvt. Mellish Some say he's a Jew. Not to much attension on movie but his conversation with Cpl. Upham always bring bright colors on the small scenes. Like the "Johny on the spot ammo" scene. The "I have 6th sense" In the Rieben-Horvath stanoff scene" is like adding a bit creamer to a coffee. His death always breaks my heart. But the movie manage to gave him decent & brave ending. In addtion, his crying scene in the omaha beach was heart toring. 9. The SAS soldier who killed Mellish. Although the death of Mellish hurts me, I felt that the Soldier who killed him just did his duty and killed him just to survive. Also manage to gave him a decent way to die. Giving him a good fight. Aside from sparing Cpl. Upham's life. Knowing he's not a threath and unecessary to kill. Showing he's a decent Soldier even his a Nazis. 10. Cpl. Upham There are 2 types of viewers, those who loved him, and those who hate him. Don't get me wrong, he's just to fine, to inocent to be a soldier although it is his scrpted character. I just hate when he let Mellish killed and show too much compssionate to the enemy. Also there's several scenes he did'nt engage to gunfight even his fellow soldiers did. He just redeem his character when shot Steamboat willie at the ending. He's just one of the good guys. My most hated character is Steamboat Willie. No explanation is needed. But he's a great actor for doing that.

After all this time two things still piss me off...1 seeing that gutless pog coward Cpl Upham bitch out while his battle gets run through. 2- No Currahee ever needed Ranger Batt to step in and rescue them. Still chokes me up when Ryan refuses to leave his 506th Brothers. Wonder if researching for this film inspired Hanks to produce Band of Brothers.
