Glad you made this and I do this all of the time when working in Premiere (making sequences, then duplicating them and so forth). Recently was showing a colleague who is new in the SW something. When it started auto saving, she clicked cancel. I said, don't EVER do that and let the SW save your project in case of a crash. I am always hitting CTRL SAVE myself on projects. So this is a great tutorial and thanks.

Thank you exponentially! I keep getting quick simple professional tips from you. In weeks I've upped my game immensely. I am a save-a-holic like you and detest auto save for a very important reason.... I love to try destructive things out and when they work, which is 20% at best, I save. When it doesn't, I simply revert. The last thing I need is to be mid destructive experiment and have auto save wipe my good work out. I'd rather take responsibility and save when I'm ready. If I lose hard work due to Not saving I just man up and deal

I prefer Duplicating a Sequence to make big changes rather than Revert. Sometimes I don't remember what I did or didn't do since the last Save and I might loose something during a Revert.

In the Avid world I quickly learned not only to CTRL S throughout the session, but to create backup sequences on revisions and whenever stopping down. While the files already include timestamp metadata I found it useful to provide my own to speed recovery. ie VideoRevealed_v03_06242020AM Also avoid using the word "Final", can't tell you how many times I seen VR final final final seq, when a date and time along with an "archive" for older sequences would have made life easier for everyone. Incredibly important lesson here about saving versions. Can't be stressed enough. Thank you for the important reminder, Colin. I am currently saving all projects onto two external hard drives and the Adobe CC. I was about to pick up another LaCie Rugged 2TB drive when I heard you mention saving to Google Drive as an option. I have 85GB of space left on it. If you were me, would you put work there or onto another LaCie?

Sequences are independent. What you do in one Sequence will not affect another Sequence. That's the way it works. If you want to update something, then Nest a Sequence in another Sequence. Here's a tutorial: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKTRiH6dbM6HjLs

Colin, I will start a small project, and all the footage and audio are in on a hard drive. I will put the project there as well. What I'm gonna do is just a pre-edition, just to organize all the stuff in Premiere Pro. After that, I'll leave this hard drive with the Video Editor to do the final work. My question is about setting up this new project, about the location of the folders of: "Video Previews", "Audio Previews" and "Project Auto Save''. Can I leave all of it as "Same as Project"? I still don't understand why the auto save in PP doesn't work the same as in Avid or FCP. Shouldn't it override the current version? Command S is part of my muscle memory, so I probably hit it every :30. My Auto Save pref is set to 5 minutes. I have noticed that even though it is set to 5 minutes, a lot of the time if I need to open an Auto Save version due to a crash, that sometimes the last saved version is much older than 5 minutes. Any idea as to why? I also use a Seqs New and Seqs Old folder as part of my folder structure on every project. I can't recommend it enough. Thanks.
@VideoRevealed7 жыл бұрын
That's a common question and what you are doing when you manually save is interrupting the auto save timing. This is expected behaviour. Premiere Pro's Auto Save is there for recovery purposes and it's not really meant to be used as a chronological save history.
@SethPleasants7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reminder! I remember when I use to work in Final Cut 7 and it would crash and lose all my work. So far I've been very fortunate in the last 3 years working with adobe premiere pro I haven't lost any work. I have had it crash on me but the program usually recovers it when I open it up again. There will even be a disclaimer box "adobe premiere pro will try to recover your work but no guarantees" or something like that. On a side not isn't backing up your actual media just as important if not more important than just having multiple copies of your project file? I mean you if you lose media then you're really screwed and would have to reshoot.
@VideoRevealed7 жыл бұрын
Yes, Premiere Pro has some great recovery capabilities for sure. Backing up your media is essential but sometimes people need babysteps and Project backup is a good start.

Yes. As longs as your desktop computer has access to the Project file and all the clips, you can render from there.

That's just regular computer file access. You can either move all the assets to an external disk then attach that to the desktop, or put the assets on a server and connect to that. It's no different than answering the question, "how can I open the same image on my laptop and desktop?".

But someone was saying that my frame rate should be 25FPS and now i aam confused.can you plz help me about his. TThansk Regards LHI cinema Jasbir Singh
@VideoRevealed6 жыл бұрын
The easiest way to make the proper sequence is to Right-click on the clip and choose New Sequence from Clip. This will make a Sequence with the exact same frame rate as your clip. If you're not attempting to create a slow motion effect, then you may want to shoot at 25fps and create your Sequence with that same frame rate. If you are trying to create a slow motion effect, then shoot at 50fps, create a 25 fps Sequence, then Right-click on the clip and choose Modify> Interpret Footage. In that dialog box change the 50 fps to 25 fps and you'll have beautiful slow motion when you drop it in the 25 fps Sequence.

Hi! I'm having some troubles with the premiere cc 2017 xml. It wont open in Smoke autodesk. There is another way to expot not losing the motion effects?
@VideoRevealed7 жыл бұрын
The XML that Premiere Pro produces is based exactly on FCP XML so I'm not sure why it won't open. Did you try a very simple Timeline to see if there is something in the other one that may be causing the problem?

Even if Adobe updated the XML, it's still 100% FCP XML so you need to ask the guys who make Smoke and see what their compatibility is regarding FCP.

That is great, I am wondering, I have a project, but it seems to not have the newest sequence in, or sequncess seem to dispaear, am i savign the sequncess wrong somehow. Using 2018
@VideoRevealed5 жыл бұрын
It's up the to the editor to manage everything in the Project Bin so you have to remember what is the newest and organize it accordingly. Premiere Pro saves backup versions of Projects; are you sure you're not accidentally opening an old Project?
@antonhecht31655 жыл бұрын
@@VideoRevealed Ok, it is a bit cofusing as the sequencess seem to be random as to the point they are at. So you open the last project but you find the sequence is older than the one you were using, or if you had four open when saving, then you reopen and there are only two. But your advice on saveing sequencess and making copies is goo. But I never got this with Final Cut. I am wondering if maybe it is about media browsign, rather than importing the actual files.

VideoRevealed the blog makes no reference to adobe story being able to sync up master clips with a script, similar to Avids script sync feature. I'll have to check on whether the new update allows for anything like that.
@VideoRevealed7 жыл бұрын
It doesn't. There is actually less functionality in this version as the update was to rewrite the app in HTML 5 instead of Flash. The good news it, Story isn't dead. The other thing to keep in mind is that SciptSync is not free ($349) so you can't really expect that same features in Story, which is free.

If you have any direct line to Premiere for upgrade features, I have one. The mask tracking is not very good, I have had a client change logo's on some of their equipment, so I have had to go back a cover many logos on many objects. It would be great if everything was shot on a tripod, but everyone wants a dynamic gimble move, plus it is a spinning hub on a excercise bike. They need to give Premiere the same tracking engine that After Effects has, for guys like me who dont have time to learn a whole other Software.
@VideoRevealed4 жыл бұрын
I absolutely agree that the tracker in Premiere Pro is not very good. I don't think it was designed as a visual effects tool but just as a follow someone's head or license plate tool. But even with that it's lame. I doubt we'll see it get better any time soon as After Effects is the proper place to do this effect. And because you also get Mocha for AE, that's an even more amazing tool. Here's a tutorial: vimeo.com/114850269

When i Duplicate it and make changes in it. Changes made in both duplicate and original. Plz help

You must be nesting a Sequence inside another Sequence. Double-click a Sequence from the Project Bin to open it.

Can it be possible to use a nested sequence again and again with some changes. (I made nested sequence which is perfect. It includes text, effects, etc. i want to use it again and again but when i make any change in it. Changes also apply on previous one).
@VideoRevealed6 жыл бұрын
No. Nested Sequences are the exact same so any change is propagated in all instances.

Did you find out how to resolve that problem? I can' t find any reasonable solution for it too.

Great content. My KZbin channel is going to grow because of you. 😍. Thank you for the help. You deserve the sub. I've always backed up but your video taught me how to work with two sequences simultaneously THE CORRECT WAY. I use it for moving b-roll around.

Why I can’t save the video file
@VideoRevealed6 жыл бұрын
This tutorial is about saving Sequences, is that what you're having trouble with? Or are you trying to export the Sequence?
@genesislr74 жыл бұрын
But you didn't even go over how to save the first sequence for us to duplicate? How do we get to the first step?
@VideoRevealed4 жыл бұрын
I suggest watching the Start Here playlist first. Here's why I don't show every step in every tutorial: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3WVe4WBpdqtga8

Why didn't the author of this video tell you how to get to "Project; Versions" How dumb? I can't find it?
@VideoRevealed6 жыл бұрын
Hello, I'm the author of this tutorial. If you watch at 3:18, I show you how to duplicate Projects. Each one can be a copy or a version depending on what you do with it. That's no different than making version of Word files, Photoshop files, or any other computer file on your system. I hope that helps.
