Back in the late 80s early 90s all of my friends & I rode BMX freestyle , dirt , street & vert . We got so tired of are dirt jumps getting soggy & having to rebuild them we finally covered them with wood using big spikes that pulled into the ground & anchored the wood to the ground & it was all worth it . We got all the wood for free because one of are friends worked for a hardware store & the owners were willing to help us out . All the wood we used was treated so it was all good . We eventually found a big valley that was on a 70 degree incline on both sides down & up & around 150 feet down & up the other side , we cleared it out & set wood down anchoring it in place , man was it fast & the air time was ridiculous at least 4 seconds of air time we called the place Queen City trails & the valley jump was called the Dip we even made a pro section on the down side that added 70 feet more of the track & if you were brave enough to go down it you could get into the tree line & it actually looked like you were riding on top of the trees for a split second . Way cool , great times .

It started at age 16 , only lasted 3 years but I wouldn’t change or take back any of those years for anything , now we all are becoming old men with family’s & some of us even have grand children , that’s what I’m waiting on , that was are glory days . It would have been great to see the next generation of riders take over that spot & I think no one ever did .

Looks excellent - boys progression on the Park is immense! Next large retaining wall consider chucking some river gravel for the first foot behind the wall with a slotted drain at the base. This will drain moisture building up in the dirt, and reduce the risk of the landing getting very heavy during rain events, and failing again!

@@PorterMTBThanks for replying! In the concrete industry when we are forming up walls usually there are braces that run at 3 different heights of the wall. We do this because if we used one brace in the middle the forms would curl up like a potato chip and the bottom would blow out. I noticed that was the result before you repaired it. Man this brings back memories when we had like 6 different lines and all the work we did after school and weekends making it our own little oasis! big time jumps for 10-18 yr olds riding(talking 25ft gaps called the pit) behind St Mary's in Milford CT, bad part was cops always got called on us! never forget that place I ended up lacerating my spleen on a 6 pack rhythm I didn't realize it when I was a kid but legally the school would have been responsible for injuries like mine but I never told where I got hurt! I rode home 5 miles internally bleeding at age of 14 thought I broke my ribs got to my door and passed out spent 7 days I'm ICU..... Classic me 😆😆 my mom wanted to kill me!
