Saving the WORST Form I’ve Ever Seen on FM

Saving your saves on FM is back! We do it on stream about once a month so since you all enjoyed it on KZbin too, I figured we could save your saves on Football Manager 2021 again. I picked four saves from the hammers that had different issues, one with tactics, one with morale, and some transfer, scouting, and team building questions. As you would expect, running the FM gamut. There is, of course, also the biggest TURN in form I’ve seen on FM. Not overall run, but the most abrupt switch from dominance to losing Football Manager has ever shown me.
This series has already turned into a lot of fun. It’s a pretty unique idea in FM and I appreciate the hammers helping me come up with it on stream. I hope if you’ve made it this far you’ll consider joining the stream itself. We are usually playing FM, after all. So it won’t be a huge jump for you. The live sports saves and the save your saves stuff is all there too. It’s literally the same thing. Just able to talk about tactics for longer, basically the only difference. And the dancing, but we don’t talk about that.

It must be so worrying for people when they pick a portuguese club save for the first time. There just isn't money in Portugal, you'll be on the red for a solid 4 or 5 seasons. The problem isn't on the money spent, is on the money earned, which is non existent unless you sell players. But selling players isn't even worth it because the values are low

The save with the terrible form was me but with Newcastle FM20 on my 2nd season. Signed Amine Gouri for cheap what a player he was. Went on a incredible run beating everyone 2nd in the league was beautiful experience... January came and whatever reason i did not win a single game until i got to the last 5 games of the season. Heartbroken was a understatement. Ended up finishing 8th... Same position as the first season

Lol it just feels so scripted. I didn’t lose or draw a game in my Leicester save first 13 games, first season. I thought I was a genius best run I’ve ever been on. Started to draw and lose the middle of the season. Then towards the end of the season I lost 8 in a row almost lost top 4 barely got it by 2 points. Utterly ridiculous how scripted it is

To be fair probably worth checking Honduras, Guatemala, etc. I've found 5 different 4 star ability players for a mid tier Prem team. Total transfer fees were like $3m between them. Just check their national team for the random 16-18 year olds that pop in. On previous versions I have maybe had 1 regen/newgen from Saprissa in Costa Rica(It was only ever that team by the way) be decent so this is new to me.

Daym. And I thought my Torino's 14 match winless and 7 straight loses streak was horrible. That thing (total 10 loses in the last 15 match) almost made me rage quit the savegame. But 3 season later my Torino won the Champions League, so it's all okay.

Trust, ive seen worse... not in a row perhaps, but imagine building an amazing non league team prognosed to be bottom feeders of 8th english leauge (yikes), advancing upwards first season with like 2 losses the whole season, only to loose like 95% of your team to other teams (amateur contracts, not a single quid in fees or compensations received), like 50k in debt and going down quickly, so couldnt even scout beyond my own league or propose any actual contracts to players besides the amateur type with maximum of like 50 quid game bonus... ive seen some shit Thankfuly youth intake came around and premier league clubs released like half of their young talents for me to snatch them all (for them they were all trash probably, to me most of them were 4 or 5 stars skillwise with 0 demands in terms of monetary compensation, god bless southampton)

It's really nice to see these theoretical suggestions on how to turn a bad form around, but it probably would be more useful to see someone taking a save with an 8-9 games long loosing streak and start to win. I tried everything I found so far online but nothing seems to be working. My team meetings have no any effect any more on my players they are just whatever. Morale is at least fair to all of them, but their intention to win games is gone. Plus the media in the save is very keen on my sacking, so it seems, that the game engine has already made a decision on that. Too much frustration with this game, not healthy. I'm in year 2042 in this career save, but this is the first time I experience so consistent bad form.

You haven't seen my career with Sampdoria. Last season they came in the top half but their squad is slightly above relegation at best. So the players and board expect you to be a decent team when you aren't so even though I started fairly well the board and team quickly got depressed and I lost maybe 10 in a row and finished the first half of the season bottom and got fired. Terrible terrible just couldn't find the right strategy or way to motivate them. Thankfully my next job at Barnsley has lasted a few seasons. Saved them from relegation after joining in March then currently have them in mid table.

I have a similar problem to the last save. I got promoted to dutch eredivisie, and managed to finish top 4 last 3 years. This season I'm going to the CL group stage, yet projection is that we will lose 15M by the end of this season. I don't know how. I still have room in wage and transfer budget, yet projection is that next season my transfer budget is 3M.... Sign them young for 5 year contracts. You can get decent 2.t-3 star players for rather cheap, especially if you play attacking football, you can make over 200% on player inestment. Loan out players and be honest with your players about playing time. And never be afraid to cash in. Football is a business and the team bringing in 100m in transfer fees every year in the prem with premier league tv money is the team that will almost inevitably win titles. Chelsea, united, Barca, ajax, are all known for their renowned youth systems and look at that, when is the last time these teams have been outside of europe. If people think this isn't real, look at real life. This is the future as clubs cannot afford 100m transfers for every player so cash in on their stupidity.

I dont understand how the simulation in the game works. I would dominate the game with 55-60% possesion, 20+ shots, 10+ on target and would lose 0-1 in the end. It's happened countless times. And if i restart the match to see if it's formation problem, i would win 2-0 or 3-0 instead. Why is this type of simulation always happen?

Loans, set pieces, good squad atmosphere and a strong leader as a captain is what got my Burton Albion through in a similar project. If you've managed to retain some players who've gone through a promotion or two with you, they will have high respect for you as a manager and are unlikely to mutiny very strongly. For those that do, you can pull one out of a narcissist's playbook and play with their guilt: "the dressing room atmosphere is great, don't mess it up". It's not going to work on an Ambitious player though, for example.

Can you please do a video on consistency? It's something that never really registered with me till now. I am convinced the mentoring groups I set up have passed on inconsistently to other players even thou it should not happen. A 17 year old went from fairly consistent to fairly inconsistent because of the influence of higher ranked fairly inconsistent player. When I changed the 17 years old player mentoring group to a higher ranked consistent player he became fairly consistent again. All this happen in 5 months in fm20. As I was focused on developing better personality via mentoring I have now 2 player's who were playing 70 to 90% of my back to back title winning teams become fairly inconsistent and have become just about terrible. I am pretty sure they got it as well via mentoring groups

Precontract Signings: I'm in the final month (June 1st) before the free transfers. Yet during this season I signed 3 (on a season long loan) players that are quality and will take my team further for the next few years. However, they are all due to run out of contract come 30th June. Obviously I understand that in english football you have to wait till the month before, until I can approach to sign on a precontract. However, I can't seem to do this for the 3 players I've loaned in. Is this because they're on loan? Or is it a case that I maybe need to skip a day before I can iniate contract discussions?
