Saving Time in Adobe Illustrator Using Templates

This 7 minutes, plus its repeats will save me HOURS of time. Thank you. I've been overwhelmed by all the stuff I don't use forever. And yes- I do not use myriad- ever. And yes- I generate literally dozens of "palettes" but have never been able to save them successfully. And all the rest too!! Thanks again.

is it possible to create a template where the where the artboard has no stroke? I have tried and tried but no matter it always opens with the white with default black stroke

Hi Andy, is there anyway i can make a photo place holder template, so that when i update one placeholder, all others are updated with the same image. very useful for passport photo printing services. Any guidance is highly appreciated.

Hi! If you duplicate a linked image inside Illustrator multiple times, when you change the original image that is linked, all links inside Illustrator will update as well. Does that work for what you need? Tip: you can tell linked images by the 2 diagonal blue lines making an X when you select the image.

When i press open new file there is a feature that says "saved", if possible how can i save the template there, as it would be much faster to just save my templates there, and save double the amount of time. love the video btw very helpfull.

Hi there! Sorry for the late respons. The short answer is no, that tab is for presets downloaded from Adobe Stock. However, you can save new document profiles under tabs like "web" or "print", by creating a new document and saving it in a very specific folder. I'm not sure where this folder is on Mac, but in Windows is C:/Users/yourusername/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator XX Settings/en_GB/x64/New Document Profiles (please note that AppData is a hidden folder, so perhaps an easier way is to just search for "Adobe Illustrator XX Settings" on your C: folder, replacing XX with the current version, which right now is 27). It's a bit of a big workaround, but if you save the new file there, it should appear on the New File windows.

I try save a template preset but it says I don’t have enough access privileges, I pay my adobe subscription so I use the program all legal. What can I do to save templates?

Hi! This is probably a Windows thing, rather than Illustrator. Try saving on a different folder, perhaps? Not having access privileges means the folder you're trying to save the file is restricted to some users (like administrators).
