Saving Ukraine’s Abandoned Animals

As Ukrainians flee the Russian invasion, volunteers are rescuing left pets stranded in Kyiv and the capital’s suburbs.
ZooPatrol is a grassroots organisation saving cats and dogs abandoned in the chaos of war. Volunteer patrols receive reports of animals in need, are despatched and feed them, flagging cases to a vet if medical attention is needed. With a network started via a word of mouth, ZooPatrol has grown and now receives hundreds of notifications daily via its Facebook ( / zoopatrul.ua ) and Instagram ( / zoopatrul.ua ) channels.

Can’t believe they left their pets in the first place. Mine are family to me and there’s no fkin way I’d leave without my dogs. I couldn’t live with the thought of abandoning them as they’re 100% loyal to me and would protect me with their lives.
