The Lithuanian campaign is one of the toughest in medieval total war. I resolved to destroy the order first in my most recent campaign. By turn 15 I had managed to wipe them out at the cost of 1 settlement, 5 generals and the king himself. Now at turn 50 the remaining powers have all put their differences aside to fight me and Novgorod decided to betray our 50 turn alliance. They will all be paganized.

Just wanted to say this, until recently I haven't played mtw2 in some 5-6 years, I was never really stellar at the game but i was decent; I remember my biggest success in sp was winning a short campaign with france on hard mode and thinking pleased to myself, well that was quite an achievement. After watching your vids for a while I've been curbstomping the game on very hard without once breaking a sweat. I'm talking 0 defeats, 0 savescumming, almost 0 problems and just like you, less than 100 casualties in almost every battle. Thanks man, thanks for reinvigorating my love for this masterpiece of a game and for finally teaching me how to play it proper, 12 years after I first installed it.

He did a vid explaining some campaign map handling finesse a couple of weeks ago, aside from that there is very little else to say, just observe him and learn where you can exploit the game's stupidity, for example draw out battles, winning sieges with 0 casualties by taking the main square, how resignated the AI behaves in some big battles and so on ad so forth. Just watch him and try to emulate. The most important lesson I learned from him about the game's tactics is that "cavalry is king".

To add to what PerunsZGRevenge mentioned: always be sure to be on the offensive. Always. Like from the start of the campaign, be aggressive as much as possible. You don't want your enemies from becoming stronger or else they'll be too hard to beat even if you're good at winning battles. Because they will keep on throwing in lots and lots of stacks and they'll eventually declare war on you or betray you if they're your allies. Something that I learned from watching Legend's campaign videos and the latter I observed after playing a lot of TW games where no matter how good the alliance is, those AI will always betray me or hate me simply for existing. Legend prefers to rush which was the opposite of what I was initially doing. I would prefer to research more technology first. Or for older TW games, I would prefer to make my towns grow. Something that was really wrong in my strategy since the AI tends to be too OP that even if I can beat them on battles, they tend to overwhelm me.

Personally I think it's one of the best strategies if seen on youtube. Also I like Lithuania played by legend. Crap soldiers, but choose battles on the pitch with horses. It's a good faction to learn with horses. Nice video

One of the hardest factions geographically and unit-wise. It says that lithuania has good light cav, but theres nothing good about it. The only light cav they have are tatar lancers and there are religion buildings that give you access to somewhat cheap and mediocre ha. When you think about it, even teutons have better light cav.

Nicolas Awad Lithuanian shock infantry is good, but they lose against other elite infantry of other factions. Lithuania has the worst troop tree progression ever in tw history. Imagine this. They can make their mailed knights at their high level cities, not castles. However, dismounted knights come from castles. The best way to play lithuania is just converting all castles to cities and trying to get maximum income while spamming their shock infantry. Samogitian axemen at first and later giltines chosen supported by knights.

Your are totally right, i've played this game many time. Lithuania is the least balanced faction in whole game, it is sad, that any game has a good repesentation of this very interesting nation. Legend I have a campaign that I think is about to become a disaster but it's past the 200 turn mark on Stainless Steel and I'm not entirely sure about the settings. Is this something you'd want to look at or is the fact that the campaign is beyond victory conditions (in terms of turns) a non-starter for you?

I commend you on your skill turning this disaster over. I tried playing Lithuania a few times, very hard. In most of your games, you frequently use or rely on mercenaries. I can't recruit anywhere mercenaries. Same game, same nation. I do have family members and when they are in between cities, I am still unable to recruit mercenaries. It is not avail. Is there some setting in the game preventing recuitment maybe? I played very hard I think.

Honest question: it seems to me like often when you have multiple generals and units you will bunch them together on the campaign map and attack specific areas. I'm not as experienced but things have gone best for me when I send a general with maybe 6 or 7 units and attack a region. I know this is random but I hope you are willing TO answer
