That front bumper damage on the splitter both sides looks to me like forklift spars from moving it around the salvage yard...
@SavingSalvage4 жыл бұрын
That’s a good shout to be fair! Which makes it annoying as copart have probably damaged it! 😡

@@SavingSalvage Copart damaging cars by poor handling?? Surely not ?? It's criminal the way they use forklifts the way they do. Looks like it was stolen and recovered as it was being stripped to be sold for spares

It's mad how alloys make or break a car, those little Polo GTIs look bob on but it looks pants with those terrible temp ones on.

I am not sure if you have purchased an interior 19.5.2020. Many years ago I purchased an interior from a lightly rolled escort from a breakers.it was a genuine purchase. I would surf the net nationwide, these things have a habit of turning up. I was at the GTI International, I was surprised the parts that were for sale be careful.

Trickle charge the battery. If it completely flat I seem to remember samcrac bringing one back from the brink. Linking one battery to the dead battery. Charging the better battery a while which put a little life into the dead one. That allowed him to then charge the dead one back to like Sometime in last 4 months I seen it think it was just after Ratarossa looked at his Ferrari

Hey I’ve recently done same thing with an Audi A1 got it with no keys minimal damage etc . I used AA key assist and if you give them the VIN they order the genuine key and the come to you and programme it there and then no need to take car to Audi dealer cost around £200 and you don’t have to be a member ..
@SavingSalvage4 жыл бұрын
I got exited, phoned them and unfortunately that’s not an option for the polo 😔.. they have to order it from vw like anyone could.
@jnetcooper4 жыл бұрын
Saving Salvage Most frustrating thing is the spare key will probably be sat in someone’s kitchen draw somewhere ...
@markbennett66584 жыл бұрын
Get it up in the air see if there’s any underside damage indicative of rough joy riding before it was stripped out. If it’s all good I’d imagine the engine is just fine. Maybe you can order key set online and get it delivered despite the pandemic? Wait on the interior until the right breaker comes up. Get a temporary driver’s seat and perhaps some nice aftermarket wheels if the right ones don’t become available.

Should look for a local lock smith to supply and code a key £100 a get them all the time should really invest in some lishi lock smith tools so can can get steering lock off while waiting worth having.

Nice buy, depending on the price obviously, should be a straight forward job. Just the result of some horrible little irk having a joyride and making fifty quid on the wheels and interior

Nice project car which looks like a quick turn car, I reckon £6k given low mileage and minimal damage
@chrisstone32804 жыл бұрын
Personally, if it aint costing you any money leaving it at your yard I would leave it until this shit storm blows over the last thing I would do is spend money on something until I Know it runs and drives and on and another thing what criminal steals an interior of a car in a tidy manner looks like someone has brought that interior and taking it out accordingly
@trainmanbob4 жыл бұрын
Do nothing until you have the keys. I assume you have checked all the usual hide a key spots on the car. Low mileage might suggest an older person with older habits? Nice loking car so I guess you paid around £3800 Cheers, Bob

If had to guess, £4500 you paid. Is it a DSG or manual, hard to tell. Does main dealer need the car to programme the key?! Used to be case I believe. Assume factory spacesaver one of ones on the car?! And two alloys on front worth selling after. Your body shop can do bumper. Maybe take whole car later for edge of the wing?! Believe 1.8 190 engine vast improvement and cambelt instead of chain. Really nice car though doesn't look it. 👌😀
@SavingSalvage4 жыл бұрын
its manual, yeah main dealer do have to do the key, also got to order a new key using the chassis number from vw! Yeah i wouldnt buy a GTi with the 1.4 engine. Horrible little things!

Take it vagcom can't code keys and you need ignition on to get it to run for diagnostics. Which probably flag up boot open, no seat airbags etc. You'll make headway am sure. And couple of well known tyre firms will come out to you if you only bought replacement alloys. Found 4 alloys on ebay that might be useful.

There’s a plug in obd reader on ebay that bypasses the immobiliser so you could unbolt the lock and use the black cap , saw it on a youtube video a while back. So you could then move it and hear engine, and i think i saw the locking nut to the left of the jack in the boot, could be wheel brace end if its bent though lol

I tried, they need another key to be able to cut a new one. Also their software can’t code a key without one that’s already registered to the car.
@phil77914 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately with Volkswagen the only way to get a key cut is through the dealer. A locksmith can copy a current key blade to open the door but it won't start the car as the transponder won't work and VW only release the code to thier dealers.
