@@dazspurs9899 I would say that a ramp is a good and convenient tool to have if you’re a garage, but for the home mechanic diy all you need is some axle stands and the drive up ramps, plus a lot more patients, a good thick piece of cardboard to lay on upside down, and more use of foul language 😂

The rear sub frames are one of the common issues on these, they love to rust lol. These are going up in value now, definitely worth fixing it up!

Had mk2 fr remapped to 260. Good fun car. No where near as much character as the mk1 cupra i had though. Loved the 1.8 20v t. Would buy it back tomorrow if i could

Reckon it's worth fixing. The sills always rust there- the ends are not well protected and the rust creeps under the stonechip, it is not too hard to clean up. The wings might be pattern parts, but they do rust at the bottom as the liner lets mud collect in the bottom.

Keep and fix. Mk2 are my favourite and I’ve had 2. Lots of fun. Won’t be worth 4k maybe 3500 tops as it’s not a k1 but the seats are worth what you paid and the brakes are the big bois keep and finish

The seats are £350 from breakers all day. The engine is worth more than he paid for the car though. I'd say his value is correct aswell around 4500 when done. I paid 5500 for mine but mine has lower miles

The tax is putting ppl off as that’s just going to keep going up and up. No service history hurts a cars price more and more these days. I’d love a pfl Cupra but most have had a hard life and got driveway maps on them.

I had one of these for 8 years. Engine is unburstable with regular oil changes and 4-yearly cambelt changes. At 10 years old the bills increased noticably but mostly wear & tear or VAG foibles. Fuel consumption was horrific from day one too. A lot have drifted into unsympathetic hands and run on a shoestring. This one is rough and possibly lived near the sea? Mine didn't have any rust at 14 years old. Worth saving nonetheless because they make strong money, even categorized and 10-owner examples.

Bumped front and rear. Both bumpers are different colours to the rest of the car. Paint is the other big expense for the wings and I would say bumpers as well. Should be plenty left in it for some pennies for you. Decent car at the end of it.

I still think of 08 cars as fairly recent and would never think of rust as an issue but I guess they’re 15 years old now…. Looking back I bought an 8 year old Metro back in the day which had carefully filled rotten rear aches and huge holes in the floors!

fix it. The different colours of the bumpers are common on all cars. There's something about painting plastic that makes the colour come out slightly different. I've seen it on new cars in the showroom.
