I played this deck, but took out the Thiefs and instead put in the Sphinx of Foresight for the Scry and a little bit more power. It works very well!

Any reason to use Thought Erasure over Agonizing Remorse? Thought Erasures seemed to open you up to one-mana Mystical Disputes in the early game, which would be solved by the black-only Agonizing Remorse. Is the "surveil" that important? I understand that putting more into the graveyard activates Kroxa quicker, but it seems that you use Lazav more to copy Kroxa anyway, and Kroxa is the only real graveyard interaction in the whole deck. maybe small Ashiok instead of the Thiefs? Fits the discard-thing, hoses the escapes and maybe opponents spend some of their resources getting rid of them...

Is there any good reason to not sideboard in ritual of soot against this new simic/sultai list? It deals with all their threats exept fringe agent of treachery. To name a few: Paradise druid, Uro, hydroid Krasis, 3/3 lands, Stolen Kroxa, Stolen Lazav, Stolen Thief. I would probably play it over Tyrant's Scorn and disdainful stroke. EDIT: realized this was mentioned now...

Bonecrusher Giant is a good replacement for Thief of Sanity, also another good shapeshift target for Lazav with a 4/3 body.

Mateusz Mydlarz the first one is lazav, the way his affect works he keeps his name when he becomes a copy of a creature, allowing you to bypass the rule of one copy per legendary.

Gray Merchant could actually be really good as a sideboard option. It gains a lot of devotion from Nicol Bolas. Should use Bolas destroy a creature option on Mayhem Devil as soon as it hits the board as it doubles the cat oven damage. Just bouncing it only delays your death.

Remorse may be better than erasure. Surveil is ok for krox and lazav but that’s about it. The utility of exiling something from ops graveyard may outweigh that. The fact that remorse is easier on the mana is an added bonus.

I think the conversation regarding the Warcraft 3 reforged terms of use was super interesting. I honestly think, they just don't want to see what happened with DOTA 2 happens again. Cause they lost out on a crazy multi million dollar opportunity with that. Otherwise, it really just sounds like they are, like you said, covering their butts.

Just started playing MtG again. Try out a mono-black devotion deck sometime. You might like it. Big tricks with Nightmare Shepherd, Gray Merchant, Ill-Gotten Inheritance, Bloodthirsty Aerialist, Bolas's Citadel, and Evolving Wilds. Literally shooting up the ranks right now, kinda gross. Since you've got ALL DA CARDS I'm pretty sure you could make an actual solid deck out of the idea.

Does anyone else feel that grixis decks are just too slow or trade 1:1 too often? May be my own thought but I can't ever get one to work unless I have a lucky board wipe.

Zack Brown Grixis lacks a consistent way to get card advantage besides Bolas and sweepers so I usually main-deck some flame sweep, tomebound lich, and chemister’s insight in my list to deal with aggro and control.

Dylon S I like the idea of those, plenty of lifegain, easy to cast sweeps and card draw/filtering. I'm going to have to try brewing something up with those!
