I think this is Peter's finest performance, forced to play this by Danny's broken string, he shows his true love for the blues. That tone... He starts off playing with dynamic subtlety, almost acoustic, and then, in an instant, changing to scorching, searing distortion, that cuts through his humble vocals beautifully. It just goes to show you the level of his ability and the dexterity of his touch, one that many guitarists overlook. With just a slight turn of the volume knob the guitar can be as just as powerful loud, as it is when soft and sweet.
@megalodon8473

Excellent post - he gets more out of a slight turn of his volume knob than many other guitarists get from stepping on a pedal that activates 5 or 6 rack effects.

@zoso1980
@zoso1980 6 жыл бұрын
"Greatest" No. You need to do more blues history. Green, while amazing wasn't a pure blues guy. He had his feet in other styles - rock mainly. To call him blues exclusively isn't accurate. He brought passion of blues style into the rock world, strict blues - not at all. This is the problem with the rock generation and it's understanding of blues. It never looks much father back the SRV, Clapton, Green. There is SOOOO much more there and even cooler stuff. You are hearing and seeing the reframing - not the original stuff. The original stuff is far more compelling.

I literally “discovered” Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac about an hour before he died. It was strange. For no reason, I started searching Fleetwood Mac on iTunes to download a song from Rumors. And lo and behold all these other recordings from the late 60’s and ‘70’s came up. Amazing music. How is the original version of Fleetwood Mac so unknown??? Edit: And then, as I searched You Tube for live video of these older songs, I see comments saying RIP Peter Green. 😢 I may be late, but I will keep Peter Green’s music alive.

Green was a true master of emotion and story-telling in his playing, he was one of the greatest (if no the best). He was so interesting to listen to, never repetitive, and always seemed to know where to take it next to complete "his story". No matter what the instrument is, or genre of music, the goal is the same . . . to "move" people and make them disappear into another world and move their listeners in some profound way, Peter Green did that in spades! I am always in disbelief how good he was at that whether the song was a fast jump-blues, hard acid style rock like Rattlesnake shake, or his searing slow blues like Jumping at Shadows, that man was blessed and cursed at the same time!

Love watching the old stuff - a real huge talent. My first introduction was a song called "Out of Reach" with his unique haunting guitar and vocals. Sadly the real Peter started to disappear by the end of 1970 and never came back. Of course there were many decent recordings after that, but they relied heavily on the help of others, down to who was actually playing lead. Watching him playing with the Splinter Group and after, was heartbreaking. So as I said, it's lovely watching his unique talent in his 1966 - 1970 prime!

This is the most beautiful sounding bridge pickup I've ever heard. Check out some videos of Gary Moore working out on that same guitar and note that he mostly plays on the bridge. This is what a really good classic PAF sounds like. The term PAF is so misused and misunderstood, and I always point players to this video or the recording of Duane Allman playing Push Push with Herbie Mann. Those were two guitars that had the "God Tone." As a pickup maker this is what I hope to eventually capture.....

@SDPickups

@@buzzedalldrink9131 OK, make your hands sound like a JTM45, then make your hands sound like a Telecaster, then a vintage Bassman. Yes, you need to know how to play, using dynamics and soul, but your hands can't make tone. Your hands can't make the sound of a vintage Les Paul either. A professional player knows how to use the controls on the guitar, for instance Eric Clapton never played his Les Paul with the volume all the way up and he used his tone and volume controls to warm up his sound by rolling them back slightly, most pro players all do this. An amateur player can make any guitar sound terrible, definitely, but vintage PAF's have a certain "voice" same as any recording microphones do. HAND CONTROL is very important but they don't make sound.

An amazing talent. Such a good guitarist. I think the quality of his voice is often overlooked.

This is what I call "killer rock/blues." The way Greenie includes much of himself in his playing, superb!! No wonder fellow guitarist Gary Moore was influenced by Peter Green.
