Sedum are so easy. I break off stems in my yard before the fall and make a hole in the soil and spread them all over my slope. Fast, cheap, and beautiful! Propagation is the 💣! Another great video!!

One of my neighbors just up the road has a lot of Sedum and she said I can have as much as I want. Looks like it's time to take her up with the offer. Enjoyed the video!!!

I've had a lot of success starting the sedum leaves in shallow trays with water. I use pie pans and put the base of the leaf in the water, leaving the top of the leaf out of the water. Same is true rooting the leaves in damp medium - just keep it moist.

Love Autumn joy sedum. Hardy, low maintenance plant. Love how the flower transitions from a light pink to brilliant burnt red. Also attracts LOTS of bees. At least in my area.

I could not believe the sheer number of bumble bees, honey bees, the array of butterflies, & different kinds of wasps that have been all over mine this summer!! I’m propagating as many as I can for next year!!

Just found a sedum in my back yard. Another perennial for my nursery.
@emmasurf87684 ай бұрын
Interesting to see the difference in growth time between the different methods. I also propagate in water. BTW it's not just sedum leaves but almost all succulents can propogate with leaves. I often just throw them on a tray of gravel and leave them alone till the babies show on each leaf.

Curious to see how the leaf cuttings rooted on the SEDUM in the video you did a few months ago. How'd they root?
@savvydirtfarmer Жыл бұрын
Some just started rooting before they ffroze. We'll see in Spring what's going on with them.

yes! I had some this Spring and when I do, the Autumn Joy don't sell and the neon's do. I didn't keep any to propagate... should have.

Roughly how much woody material do you put in your potting mix?
@savvydirtfarmer Жыл бұрын
Probably 60-40, pine bark to hardwood bark
@mariesuen9305 ай бұрын
@@savvydirtfarmerdo you meant apart from 60-40% bark the rest of it was normal soil? Thank you.

I dig one up trying to get some ditch lilies out of the area from taking over the Sedum. I set the plant in a pot, took cutting and put them in the same pot. I also set the leaves in the pot. I can see I cut the leaves wrong. It's ok. There's more to cut and try. I am wondering if I can just set the pot close to the other Sedum and leave it there all winter. I'm in middle Tennessee 6b.

What do you use as a protection for this kind of plant over the winter?
@savvydirtfarmer Жыл бұрын
These sedum will just sit out in the open in their pots all winter with no protection at all... most plants will do that as well. NOT ALL plants.

New sedum gardener here. Should I be worried about the holes in the leaves some kind of bug has made?? I could not see ANY bugs at all but the leaves have been chewed on & I noticed some leaves in video with same bug holes chewed thru & around edges.
@savvydirtfarmer2 ай бұрын
They are all about to lose their leaves and die back to the ground for winter. You'll see them again next Spring. No worries.
